Topic: RE: Timeline for surgery
Probably longer than you think or what was promised. Seems it takes 1/2 week for things to be signed off on prior to proceeding to the next step. I went to my first meeting (after JUST missing the prior one by 1 day) on May 7th. I have been pushing things along (I am on a tight schedule that I was very upfront about this from the beginning) and finally have a pencilled in surgery date of June 11th. For many of you that seems to be fast, but I am self-pay and did homework for 9 months prior to getting to this step. I wish you well. What practice are you using? I think the one I chose got very bogged down of late.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your rough time. I still drink mostly protein shakes. I am about three weeks out. I have had a little cottage cheese, and yogurt. Luckily, I really am not hungry very often. Hope everything continues to go well for you Di

Topic: RE: BIG DAY IS FRIDAY may 30th!!!
My big day is friday too. I have been put on liquid diet, because gained instead of losing. The first couple of days were hard, but I am kinda getting the hang of it. I was supposed to have my surgery last month, so I was so hyped that when it was rescheduled for May 30th, I have been kind of numb to the thought. I had to get my gall bladder out, so I figure the lap band should be much easier since they are not removing an organ. It will be okay, and since I have been on the liquid diet, it has been easier to remember to take the vitamins. We do not have that many options of things to eat so I can remember the vitamins. It is amazing that when necessary we are stronger than we thought. Be Blessed! Nan

Topic: Timeline for surgery
Hi. I attended an informational meeting and have my 3 hour assessment appointment on June 4. Can someone give me an idea of how long it takes to schedule the surgery? What are the usual steps? Thanks

At the suggestion of my Dietician to get more protein in I went on a hunt for some protein bars. Also I needed some really good, agreable snacks for my upcoming travels. I have recently tried (and LOVE) the "South Beach Living" High Protein Cereal Bars - Peanut Butter. OMG these are great and unlike any other protein bar I've tried in the past Each bar has: 140 calories 5g Fat 15g Carb 6g Sugar (3g Sugar Alcohol) ***10g Protein*** I am about 3 weeks out and have been able to tolerate these. Hope this helps others.
