Hi Frank you are going to be fine. I am 3 weeks po and it is getting easier everyday. I stayed 4 days in the hospital because I had previous stomach surgery so my surgery was a little more complicated. Just make sure to drink all you can I was readmitted one week later for dehydrayded. SOOOO make sure to drink even when you are not thirsty. It is very easy to get dehydrated.
Topic: RE: drain??
Hi Frank I had my surgery on 5-13-08 and i had a drain. I came home with my drain and had it a week it is not as bad as you think. It is for your saftey to check for leaks. I felt good knowing I had it so I could make sure that I was ok. The only problem I had with it was sleeping it was just weird. It is really not bad at all.
Topic: RE: Need other Protein Suggestions
Do you like cottage cheese? It has a lot of protein in it. Also try salmom and tuna, they have good protein. One breakfast food that I eat is 1 medium egg, 2 tabsp crab meat, and some FF cheddar cheese ~ mix it all together and then scramble it. It taste good and is loaded with protein. Have you tried adding chocolate protein powder to instant SF chocolate pudding. I always keep that made up in the fridge. With the milk and protein powder it gives you a lot of protein too. Recently I bought the SF cheesecake pudding, gonna add the chocolate protein in hopes of it tasting like chocolate cheesecake. Hope that helps you.
Topic: Need other Protein Suggestions
First of all thanks for all the posts regarding the protein drinks. So far all of them taste horrible to me. I thought I was just crazy or something as I can't tolerate the bullets, isopure, or protein powders. I will try the refried beans and cheese from taco bell. Any other suggestions?

Topic: RE: Protien Supplement. HELP ME PLEASE!
hi Paula,
I use the vanilla, chicken broth and unflavored Unjury powders. I use the vanilla and unflavored wih skim milk, adding splenda to the unflavored. I often add strwberries and mix them in the blender, sometimes with a few ice cubes.
I also like Syntrax's Mectar Cappuccino. I heat skim milk and add the protein powder. I feel as if I am drinking a latte.

Topic: Hello!
Hey there! I am new to the board and thought I would introduce myself! I had forgotten all about the surgery date message boards until this morning, and I am so glad to have found you guys!
I had my surgery (lap RNY) on 5/7 and as of my checkup on the 27th I had lost 28 pounds since surgery, for a total of 48 from my highest. Yay!
Glad to be here!

Topic: RE: Anyone begin wanting Lap-Band and Change to Bypass?
I initially wanted the lap-band, also. After going to an introductory session where they explained the diabetes connection with the RNY surgery, I switched my mind. I also felt that with the band, I might be tempted to drink milkshakes (we call them frappes up here) when aggrevated and defeat the whole process.
I took glyberide and metformin. Due my pre-surgery weight loss, I was taken off the glyberide. I left the hospital totally off the metformin and my high blood pressure medication.

Topic: Hair Loss with RNY
I am scheduled to have surgery on June 19th and, I know this is really vain, but is hair loss a sure thing or can I do anything to prevent it. Those that I have talked to that had it said that they had trouble getting their protien in at first and once that was adjusted the hair loss went away. Just curious what everyone else experienced.
