Topic: RE: is pregnacy possible w/ bypass
Yes it is possible, though they want you to wait at least a year or more out. It all has to do with vitamins and nutrition. When you get pregant for the sake of the baby your nutrition has to be monitored. Remember with bypass your large intestine is by passed and your obsorbtion of much needed vitamins, minerals and such is also cut and the baby will need all it can get. Think of the babies born to malnurished mothers in 3rd world countries. Health issue for the mother and the baby is the concern if you don't follow the rules with nutrision and vitamins. Alot of us get farther on out and slack up in this area but what we don't realize is the hidden damage we are doing to our bodies by not taking the vitamins and suppliments we need now to keep from doing the damage. To answer your question....if you follow your doctors advice you can have a healthy baby and pregancy after bypass.
Topic: RE: Hair Loss with RNY
Some folks take Bioten and strongly believe it is protein related. Honestly for some of us it matters not becuase if your going to lose it you will lose it no matter how much protein or Bioten you take. It really has alot to do with having major surger and the stress of it on your body. There are a small few that do not have this problem. It usually starts around 3 months out or later and last for quite a few months, 3 or 4. If you notice alot of the profiles of folks from last year say, alot of us started out with long hair and ended up with cute short sexy cuts. Not only does it make us look younger, it makes dealing with thinning hair easier to maintain and clean up after. I felt like a had a shaggy sheep dog living in my home, car and work place. There was hair everywhere. It was gross. There are still remnents in my back seat of my car. But don't worry because it all comes back!!!
Topic: RE: Liquid Protein
Interestingly. I had no issues with bullets or isopure before surgery. But now that I have had surgery, I hate them.
Whatever you buy, do so in small quantities in case your taste buds change. I know a couple of other folks that gave me bullets because they had the same issue. Buy sparingly and keep all receipts.

I want to thank all of you for giving me such great ideas! THANKS!!!!
Topic: RE: Protien Supplement. HELP ME PLEASE!
Being a year out now I thought I would respond to this as Protein was a challenge at first to me. But I found Achievone www.achieveone.com. There is a store locator on that site and if you are lucky you will find one close to you that has them My favorite is Mocha Java and you can get them at www.bariatriceating.com. In fact this is a good webiste where you can get samples of different proteins or there is a sampler pack you can get. Better than wasting money on all those proteins that just sit there.
Some of the other things I came up with.....one scoop vanilla powder (I just by the big container at walmart), 0ne half light yogurt of some berry or peach flavor (30z) 3 to 6 oz mild, and some frozen strawberries
one scoop vanilla, one pack SF carnation instant breakfast, 6-8oz milk and ice. Sometimes I put in half a banana
at a support group it was suggested a powdered peanut butter from www.bellplantation.com. This is really yummy! I add this to the vanilla powder to give it a more nutty taste that I was craving when on the pureed stage after surgery.
Hope this helps!

Topic: RE: Anyone begin wanting Lap-Band and Change to Bypass?
My sister had a Lapband 3 years ago this past December and I was not impressed with her results. Though I did go into my seminar with the Lapband in mind I was totally convinced that the RNY was for my by the time the seminar was finished. I had to ask myself if I really thought I had the self control to do the band. The answer was "Probably not". The RNY puts stops in place for you that the band doesn't.

Topic: Liquid Protein
So, anyone got any suggestions on which liquid protein is the best? I have seen the bullet kind, and fresh start as well. Do they really taste good?
Topic: Hi Everyone
I have been heavy since I was eight years old. I am now thiry and have missed out on a lot of great things. I have destroyed every relationship I have been in because of my weight. I have come to a point in my life where I need to take control of it again. I am hoping to have the LapBand surgery depending on my insurance company. I am looking to meet people in my local area who are going through a similar situation as myself. Hope to hear from you.
