I always have juice in the fridge for the kids. It is usually welches 100% juice--grape, white grape, white grape peach or white grape raspberry. I have i****ered down a bit. When I drink it I only drink 4 oz.

Hi I am 4 weeks out. I get hungry occasionally. Are you eating/drinking enough protein? This also helps with hunger. I spoke with my dietician today, and she said for approx. a 250 lb person, 100 to 150 grams of protein is acceptable. According to my diet plan, I should eat 6 times per day.

Topic: RE: Anyone begin wanting Lap-Band and Change to Bypass?
I went to see the Doc in Jan of 2008 wanting a lap band but they mentioned and encouraged the vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) and it has been the best choice I could have made. I researched and researched some more and the VSG was what I chose. Luckily the insurance paid for it. Not near as many complications as either the bypass or the band and a lot of bands are going back to have them removed for the VSG. The weight loss rates are comparable to the bypass and sometimes exceeding expectations. The part of the stomach they leave you with is the most resistant to stretching so gaining the weight back is less likely. I am very happy 2.5 weeks out and 21 lbs down.

I am almost 4 weeks out and feel hunger at times too. I haven't started any veggies, as I am focusing on protein and water. I do eat more than 3 times a day. Usually about 5. I have breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and snack. I have a protein shake for breakfast, usually refried beans or yogurt for lunch, string cheese for snack, tuna or crab for dinner and then a popsicle or fudgesicle in the evening. I will somtimes eat cottage cheese for a snack too. I have been awakened by nausea in the middle of the night which I think is low blood sugar and I'll drink 4 oz of juice and the feeling goes away.

I make my own version of Taco Bell refried beans at home. You have to be careful of Taco Bell--it can have a lot of fat in it. I buy the fat free refried beans at the store. I heat them up on the stove with 1 cup of veggie broth to thin them out a little. I add one Tablespoon of Taco seasoning. I will measure out 1/2 cup and add some salsa, cheese and sour cream on top. I use the weigh****chers chesse. I get 15g protein from this. It is super yummy too! Crab and Tuna are good. For protein powders, I have tried Unjury. I like the vanilla in milk and the unflavored to mix in soups. I also use Melaleuca Attain powder. They recently changed the formula and the only one that I like is the vanilla--but blend it with milk and some frozen strawberries--YUM. HTH.

The same here. I am a little sore. Additionally, I have had a hard time getting the protein shakes down. I have had a low carb slim fast with 20g of protein but I am getting tired of them fast. I am really glad the surgery part is over. I wish you all the best!

Topic: RE: 12 DAYS POST OP LAP BAND
thanks for replying. I had the lap band surgery. Do you have any experience with slippage? Like a fool I tried a piece of bread. For three days feels all swollen and painful. I can drink and do not vomit. I am so discouraged. I don,t have my first fill in until June 25.

I also had my surgery Friday. Two days post-op and I'm a little sore but other than that feeling ok. Try to get your protein shakes in, they help. I've also used unflavored protein powder and added it to tea or broth and that helps too. Good luck, you'll do great! Michelle
