I'm 21 days out post op Lap RNY and am doing great, glad you are doing great also! I have fluid fluctuations also and just ignore them. Watching your sodium intake might lessen the fluctuations though. Best of Luck! Shelia

16 days out from gastric bypass. Two days aga I was down 31 pounds but today I weighed 10 pounds more. I am glad I posted on the general forum. I nurse told me it was normal to have fluid fluctuations. The best part is I got that darn drainage tube out!

Well I am 2 weeks out and I had lap gastric bypass and yeah the gas bubbles were the worst I had to buy a pack of the gas-x chewables and take them all day long just to feel better and about the pain I think my pain was like that too. nowhere else but on the left side which I think was also the port... but it will get better just give your body a little more time to heal.

I have that same fear! I've only lost 23 lbs. and I've come to a stall! I got my surgery on 5/12/08 and I'm almost at my 1 month mark. I hear stories of people losing 40-50 lbs. in one month! I'm like," Is this all I'm going to lose after WLS"!!! It has me freaking out over here!

How much of feeling good is psychological?....I think alot.... My back hurts but I am taking 2000 mg of MSM and it takes the edge off... I am walking 1/4 mile at work with some coworkers now...this was my second day...they wear me out but the scale started moving yesterday..it was stalled for a week... drinking has been good today and yesterday I am eating soy crisps and they are great I had a bite of hamburger at a company event today and that went over well...it was moist or I wouldn't have even tried it I had a potato chip or two... I had some of my textured vegie protien (TVP) with some beef broth and I seasoned it up...it was pretty good...went down fine..only about 1/4 cup... Today has been a good day...

Topic: opions needed plzzz...
Hello everyone, I have finally made the decision to have the bypass surgery.... I THINK ... maybe lap band... I am so confused I really don't know which one I am going to have yet. anyway.. I am a single mother early 30's. both of my kids are early teens. i am so scared and axious about this surgery. I have heard good and bad things about it... as like everything else in life. i know that i need the surgery. i have been overweight for ever. and i find it very exausting to even run and play with my kids anymore. They see the difference in me too. I am starting to have problems in my knees and my ankles hurt.. or burn sometimes when i walk... i get exhausted easily. and I don't go out very much anymore because of my weights. I mean not cause I can't but cause I am afraid of what other people might say or think. I am in my early 30's and have my whole life in front of me... so i know i NEED this surgery. but I am just scared if I am making the right choice or an I just being selfish. What happen if something happens to me during or after the surgery and what will happen to my children... has anyone ever felt like this is this normal? my doctor sent me to this surgen and i think the surgeon is great.. but he never really discusse the whole thing with me.. he asked me if I had any questions and at the time I didn't and the I recieved a packet from his office in the mail which started my pre op testing... ultra sounds, ekg's, pulmanary, bloodwork. and as of friday this list will be complete... but i read about all of you going to support groups, physic evals, and seminars... but my surgeon hasn't mentioned any of this yet... should I be worried? or will this come in time? I am on goverment insurance and I just don't want them to take the cheapest route and leave me missing certian things... do you know what I mean??/ Please anyone with any information and help would be greatly appreciated... thank you so much my new friends....

Did you not have to see a dietiation. Usually at 3 weeks out you are on only soft proteins, ie: soft scramble eggs, yogart, refried beans, and protein supplements. Veggies are almost slider foods espically if you are following the rule to thoroughly chew or puriee your foods. Veggies will not fill you up. Protein is what fills you up even a year out. To get in 64 to 100 grams of protein, yes you need to eat 6 small meals and not drink 1/2hr before 1/2 to 45 minutes after. This is were we old loosers start to screw up and get back into bad habits. Be extremely careful with Juice. It is not a good source for anything but sugar! If you are dealing with low sugar try soft protein like Peanut Butter. It will bring your sugar up slowly and maintain it till your meal. Now if you go into acid ketosis, which is high ketosis which at this point you can since you should only be doing protein and watching your sugar, juice will do well if you feel faint. Everyone's diet plans are different though so check with your doctor. Go slow, measure your food and chew and get your water in!

Topic: one week post op
This is my first post. I have been reading the message boards pre and post op and you all have been such an inspiration. I think that going into surgery, I was so worried about the surgery itself that I did not think about the post op period and I had never had surgery before. I had a lot of nausea from the anesthesia and it was more painful than I expected but each day it got better. At one week out, I am trying to go from liquids to soft foods and I may be moving too fast just because I am bored with liquids. My body is confusing me. I'm not sure if I feel hunger or fullness. I just try and take it slow. There are 2 questions that I have: 1) I have these gas bubbles come up my esophegos thru my chest- especially when I change positions. Does anyone else have this problem and what can I do? 2) I had lap band and I am not having pain anywhere else except for the port site. Is that normal? Thanks for all your support and words of encouragement.

May 21 VSG. Had Dr appt today, I am doing better. Scheduled to go back to work on June 9. I have low energy and have lost 28.5 lbs. Dr said this was too much weight loss and I would probably go into starvation mode if I do not change i.e. eat more often and exercise. (this was my issue prior to surgery)
