Topic: RE: Protein supplements?
Yea, I do drink the SF Instant Carnation w/ skim milk in the AM - that's purty good stuff especially with a shot of coffee.
I have tried the Slim Fast Lo Carb and HATE them! But I am beginning to think I just hate all protein shakes. Just awful chalky tasting stuff.
Thanks for the tips!

I have found the COLDER the protein drinks the better they taste. Depending on your week a spoon of smooth peanut butter is a great source of protein.
Topic: RE: meatball disaster pls help
What was the fat content of the meatball? That may have been it. I am five weeks out and my plan is ground meats and deli style at this stage. I was advised to buy the highest quality ground meat--95% lean. Before surgery I would buy the premade meatballs and I know the fat content is too high now with the RNY. Each experience is educational and informing to our choices. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Hi Kristy,
I have spent a fortune on powders and haven't found anything i like either. They all taste disgusting and I couldnt get in enough of the shakes to make the protein worthwhile. Thank god for Isopure ready to drink bottles. That's all i drink now and they count toward your fluid intake also. 40 grams of protein in a 20 oz bottle. I drink 1 to 1.5 a day -spacing it out all day- and try and get in some other sources of protein but its tough. I cant tolerate much, just yogurt which i hate and i eat a few spoonfuls of hummus throughout the day which has a little protein. You can get the Isopure drinks at any health food type store- they have saved me. I like the lemon tea (tastes like crystal lite) and the melon pineapple banana. I must say the other flavors i tried were nasty these are the only 2 i can drink- so make sure you just buy 1 in case you dont like it. I have to look into those bullets myself.
good luck!

Topic: please help ulcers and what to eat
I am 5 weeks out from rny and haven't been able to keep more than 1 to 1.5 ounces down without nausea and vomiting and I keep getting dehydrated. I wondered if I was doing something wrong. The doctor's nurse kept hinting that I must be taking too large of a bite or not chewing properly. Needless to say I was not feeling great about my surgery.
Went for an EGD today and it showed I have a large marginal ulcer and that, that little sucker has been causing all my problems. I actually feel relieved! Whew treatable. My next dilema is what to eat. The gastro guy said "whatever you can tolerate" , my surgeoan has yet to call me back - I swear his staff is the worst at messages- and my nut is out of town until july.
So I am turning to the board. The best anwsers I get for this journey come from here. Anyone else been here done this. Thoughts, advice and support always appreciated.
