Topic: RE: I have only lost 8 pounds since May 14 surgery
Hi Lisa, I also had lap band surgery, mine was on June 30. I've been on puree for a week and a half and I'm starving!!! The nutrionist at my practice said that we should just be concerned with letting our stomachs heal and not worry about the weigt loss until our fills. I have also been pusing the limits on food. I was down about 10 lbs but by the time i get a fill July 8th I will have gained back all the weight I've lost since the pre-op liquids. So, I can definitely sympathize I to am really struggling.
Topic: RE: How much are you exercising?
I am a offical Wii Fit addict. I do an hour a day. The step aerobics, hula hoop, and rhthym boxing really get your heart going. The Yoga is awesome, the strength training I can only do a little of right now. I did have a Curves memebership awhile back and it was the most fun I had ever had at a gym, but I like my Wii Fit better. I wake up an hour early just to get it in. It gives such an energy boost.... if you know anyone that has one try it out. It is an $350 investment, but I have logged in over 13 hours on it in 20 days. ANd my kids love exersizing on it too... I have a 10 year old and a 2 1/2 year old that both use it. My husband does yoga, step, and hula hoop and has lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks. My husband would never be caught dead at anyplace doing any of those exersizes but he loves to do them in the comfort of our home...try it out...lauren
Topic: RE: Protein supplements?
I am using smartforme shakes... they are the best tasting shake I have found... no nasty protein taste at all. They are bit more expensive, but its well worth it. I use Simply Smart Milk and a 1/4 of a bannana with the chocolate...its delicous. And it 25 grams of protein... I know they send free samples. Go to smartforme.com Send me a message if they give you a hard time about your provider code and I'll give you my Dr.'s if your Dr. isn't listed. They only want people using their products that are supposed to be using them. They also have clear juice drinks that are pretty good. I like the wildberry passion. It has 15 grams of protein and only 70 calories and it counts towards fluids... I couldn't do any other shakes so try it out.... Lauren
Topic: RE: I have stopped losing after only 6 weeks post op! HELP!
Hey Connie...congrats on the 41 lbs... ... My BMI in January was 60 and I had surgery May 1st... I have lost 30 lbs since. Everyone looses differant and we all will have stalls and spirts and more stalls and more spirts...its part of the process. As frustrating as it is its all part of it. Our bodies aren't used to loosing anything. Its getting used to whats going on and it is going to start coming off again. I know my Dr. says slow and steady is way better for your body and skin. I have been working out an hour a day so I know my slow weight loss is due to me gaining muscle mass. I have lost over 5 inches on my waist and 2 inches off each thigh. Also sometimes the scale needs to play catch up with your shrinking body. Try taking measurments and pictures so you can visualize your body changing... look at my pictures, I have the night before surgery and 6 weeks out....wow what the differance. If you can't see them send me a friends request so you can... you will start loosing again. Lauren

I purchased 4Ever Fit 4Ever Whey Isolate Protein powder from BodyBuilding.com, it is chocolate flavor, Carnation Instant Breakfast tastes good but even lactose free milk bothers me. The 4ever fit is definately something I can tolerate and it has 23 grams of protein in it. I mix the powder with room temperate water, if the water is cold it clumps. I then add ice after I mix it. I drink the protein bullets, they carry them at the vitamin shoppe, I have had a few protein bars, the Atkins Advantage, they taste ok.
If you can eat "regular food" try Trader Joe's. I bought Soy Corndogs, Soy Crisps, and Soy Ice Cream bars. They have low fat Cheddar Cheese that is pretty good too.
I have to say my taste has changed since surgery. I am now eating foods I wouldn't eat prior.
You have to keep trying different stuff, you have to get your protein in.
Topic: RE: How much are you exercising?
I exercise everyday. I was just strolling about three miles about four times a day but I now work out at the gym 6 days a week. I do weightlifting 3 times a week and aerobic six times a week (treadmill and eliptical). I also find every and every reason to be active whether cleaning my house, parking far away from store, taking my kids swimming, walking to church, ect. I think the most important advice my Husband gave me about exercising is it take 2 weeks to start a habit good or bad.
So I made myself exercise no matter what to start a good habit and it worked I cant do without my exercise. Hope this helps.

Sounds like your doing good. I too have stop loosing for 3 weeks actually and then all of a sudden I started seeing the scale go down again. So yes we will experience slow times but they come back. Just keep doing things right and you'll see the weight come off again............extra weight
God Luck

Topic: RE: I have stopped losing after only 6 weeks post op! HELP!
Hey Connie,
Yes you have hit the very typical stall at 6-7wk. post op. I surgery May 6th and experienced the same 1.5wk. stall you are now. Just keep doing what you know you are supposed to be doing and it WILL happen, guaranteed!!! Sounds like you are doing a very good job as it is, already lost 41#...WTG!!! Just don't get discouraged. Chin up!
Topic: RE: meatball disaster pls help
I had the same experience on Sunday. I was eating leftover fish and zucchini and was talking with my husband. I KNOW I ate to big of a bite. The pain was horrible, I had the feeling I was going to get sick but eventually had to make myself. It was the only way to relieve the pain.
