Topic: RE: May 21st is my day!
My husband was proven so wrong. As of yesterday I've lost 24 pounds and I'm still losing. My skirts are falling off of me and he even paid for a new skirt yesterday. We joined a gym together and yesterday was my assessment. He's having his next Tuesday. He's pleased with what he's been seeing so far.
My blood pressure is way down, and I don't use my asthma inhaler as much as before. I have 55 more pounds to lose to reach my goal of 160. I'm loving me and this was the best gift I could've given myself.

Hi I had my surgery May 27th and am down 59lbs. I am having some issues with some foods of course. Stay focused and Congratulations!!
Topic: RE: How much are you exercising?
Hi Deb,
Sorry it took me sooo long to respond. Been on vacation. I dont know how I do it too. I just try to stick to the basics cause it can get so confusing. I sip water all day. Maybe thats why I dont eat sooo much. I have been doing better though. I have actually been eating out with the family which has forced me to deal with eating other things. I have been doing really well. My rule of thumb is eat as fresh as possible. I have decided to stay away from processed foods. As close to nature as possible has been working wonderfully for me. Also my secret for motivation is looking at all the before and after photos by name. When I find a picture Im very impressed with i read their profile in hopes of getting some good ideas for success. I also like to window shop cause I cant wear something long enough to enjoy it. I am planning what I will dress myself with when Im at goal! Oh I do treat myself to something everyday. I love a cup of coffee (decaf) with splenda and vanilla creamer.....I love this treat. Will I hope to hear how you are doing.

Topic: RE: Band too tight?
Tamara,
I did not have lap band but RNY but I've known other that did...and I've heard this scenerio before and I would suggest you BOTHER YOUR DOCTOR - ASAP!!!! That is what he/she and his/her staff are there for! Could be the band is too tight for right now?
And even with RNY I too feel like there are times I am able to eat way too much or the wrong kind of food, etc. But if we just pay close attention the tool will not fail us and we are still eating much less than before surgery.
I hope all is well today and PLEASE call your doctor and let us know what happens!

May 21st was my day as well - lap band. How have things been for you since? Has your hsuband come on board with being more supportive since your orig post?
Topic: Band too tight?
Since my surgery date of 5/21 (lap band) I've been successful with 36 lbs lost but felt as if I was able to eat more then I was 'supposed to'. Even after my first fill I was still able to eat more then I thought I should and it was more me controlling portions then my stomach. I has my second fill on Friday taking the band cc's up to 6. Since about an hour after the fill I've had great pains while drinking water even in small sips and eating has been the most horrible thing I've ever experienced - in 2.5 days I've had 1/2 of an egg white, two bites of spaghetti chewed to mush and a french fry (i know) but each of those caused pain, dry heaving and a sensation which left me feeling unable to speak clearly and standing over the sink praying to vomit. Is this what everyone else felt since the surgery and I'm just now catching up? Is this how it's supposed to be or do I need to have some fluid taken out today? I didn't want to bother the dr over the weekend and feel kind of silly asking for an reduction adjustment since I was the one pushing them to be aggressive in filling it. Thanks in advance for your input!
Topic: RE: I had my first fill but do not feel restriction
I've had the same sensation/experience! Surgery date 5/21 and first fill 4 wks later with 3 cc's but I was eating ok, thought for sure I had been the one that gained weight (but I didn't) and was convinced I went through all this with no actual change to my body. I kept thinking something must be wrong because 'everyone' said I should only be able to eat a couple spoonfulls but instead I was eating a whole chicken breast. The weight kept coming off (down 36 lbs to date) but I still felt it wasn't right so I pushed for a second fill 3 wks following the first this past Friday -it was too much. I had a horrible weekend, couldn't even keep water down and my poor family ! I've got to go back today to get a cc taken out (I'm up to 6 in the band now). Believe me - the sensation you're having and I had before is far better then what a tight band is about!! If you are feeling ok, loosing the weight and eating right then it's not a bad thing to monitor yourself vs pushing for the tight band. Not sure if this helped but just wanted to let you know that if we're different because we felt ok and still had results then that's not necessarily wrong. Trying to match what others were saying gave me a weekend of misery!

Phenergan is an anti-nausea medicine presribed by the doc. I break 1 in half and take it before I eat. It does wonders, but I can't take a whole 1.....knocks me out cold! Anyway, I just can't get down much of anything anyway. Today I've had 1 bite of fish.... about 5 hrs. later 1 bite of pintos and cheese.... and later tonight 3 bites of cream of chicken soup, you guessed it... Oh well, I'll try again tomarrow. I am now down around 70lbs.I guess that is the normal rate for now? As for carbs, I'll give it a try, if I can get enough down to make a differenc. We'll see, anyway get some phenergran to keep with you, it works really fast and has been a great relief for me.
Topic: RE: 9 weeks out- struggling, help
Many days I wish I could give it all back, because I get hungry. I have not tried to eat protein bars, I really want to eat one badly. Today I ate a cup of the soup I made and ate on yesterday and became sick. I never know from day to day what will agree with my stomach and what will not. I did not have my surgery here in Baton Rouge, I went to North Richland Hills near Fort Worth, Texas. The doctors here did not want to do surgery on me because I asked to many questions. Dr. Kim in North Richland Hills was happy to answer all questions and was a SUPERIOR doctor that cares about his patients. That part was well worth and additional years wait. If I was near him and his staff I would not be having half these problems.
I have gotten more then a little down because I have not moved on the scale, but my clothes are down really down, I am wearing some 12s, but mostly 14s. I am crying as I pack up suits that I cannot afford to replace, but it feels awesome. Like you I do not see how I am going to loose 80 more lbs in another 10 months. I sure hope that it does happen, but I am a little nervous. When I get through writing this email I am going to try to eat this protein bar I got on yesterday and then to the treadmill.
This is the challenge of my life, but I am coming, it has made stronger in every aspect of my life.
BTW...Last night I ate to crackers with plain hummus. I hope I can eat that later tonight. I wish I could do aerobics, but I do not have the energy to do anything like that at all. I like you have very little energy. I have to pray the entire time I am on the treadmill, I have my IPOD and speakers in the garage and We just try to make it 15 minute increments at a time. Some days I do not make my exercise goal, some days I can only do 30 minutes and I am off. two days I did 1.30 minutes on the treadmill, but my goal is 2.0 hours daily.
I lived in New Hampshire for 2 years and came to Boston weekly to have my hair done. I loved it. My daughter wants to return. In fact, we are coming there for Thanksgiving.
Nice to talk to you. I need this badly.

Hi there...I was having alot of issues about 3 weeks out and finally figured out what it was...maybe its the same for you. I wasn't getting enough carbs and I was getting low carb sick. My Dr suggested eating mashed potatoes with my meats and I started feeling so much better. Now I'm eating fruits and veggies, but man I was feeling like crap not getting enough carbs so it might be worth a shot.... Lauren
