Hi, All. I can now join the May board. I was just told that I will be having surgery on May 15th. Tonya

I am about 3 weeks away from celebrating my 1-year "surgiversary". I had gastic bypass surgery (lap) May 2nd 2007....it was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Now that is not to say that I still do not have issues with food, or issues in general - I am sure most of your realize that the surgery alone will not make things "all better". But hopefully you are prepared and committed and have a good support system in place (here on OH and locally) to get you through. Please don't hesitate to contact me either, (not that I am the biggest authority or anything) but the least I can do is "give back" for all the help I received here on OH before my surgery. I'm pretty close to "done" doing the big losing of my weight (about 90% of my excess weight!) but I still am working hard to maintain (exercizing) and not letting my mind and good new habits wander. But that's the committment we have to make, to do this forever, in one way or another. Best of luck to all of you! Cyndi Schoenbrun

I'm scheduled for May 15th too! I'm so excited. A bit nervous, but more anxious than anything. I'm just ready to get this show on the road! Are you doing a pre-op diet? My Dr wants me on a 1000 calorie diet 3 weeks before my surgery, but I'm doing a modified diet now - just a bit early. I'm trying to do a 1200-1300 calorie diet until 3 weeks prior, then I'll start the 1000 calorie diet. I'm starving!!
