Hi Deb. I've got the same name AND same surgery date. All of my kids are older but I'll tell you what I did when I took my parents to Florida when my kids were very little like yours. I bought them a little gift each day that I was gone and instructed them to open one each morning that I was gone. I put all of them in a bag and they were able to pick out which one (or course they were wrapped). They weren't expensive just a little something for them to "count" the days until I came back. It helped them and I got a kick out of it when they/I called each other. this might help with the sadness. Good luck on your surgery date. I will be thinking about you!

Jessica, good for you getting things under control while your boys are still young.
I have 2 boys myself and was overweight for their whole lives. I am sure they missed out on a lot because of my weight. they are 25 and 21 now. they have never seen me
looking "normal" except in pictures. They got me a bike! can't wait to be able to ride.

Yes that was an awesome segment. When I first heard that that was one of the stories I was almost afraid to watch thinking that it would be negative. I made my
husband watch too and it was incredible. I am having this mostly because of my diabetes and my doctors have told me that it will go away but to see verification on national tv makes me even more positive that this is the right thing to do. I want to go home after surgery and throw all that diabetes stuff away. 15 years is enough!!

Oh Lucky you, Even at 5-10% lost weight I would still have a Bmi of 58 which means 2 week clear liquids (and protein drink)
BUT I'm on my 5th day and it is getting easier. I went for my pre opp doctors appt today and everything is AOK I need to start liquid vitamin B12 but other then that I'm ready.

I am so glad my program made me loose 5-10 % of my body weight before they would approve me...this way I don't have to do the liquid diet until the day before surgery...good luck guys hang in there you all can do it.

I also forgot that unjury.com has an unflavored protein additive that you can add to any of your favorite beverages or stuff like sugar free jello... my program gave me samples of all this stuff and its not bad...

Hey there... I am going in on May 1st and I will be posting daily on how I feel and everything...so I can be the guinea pig of the bunch...I too am really nervous buit felt better after watching the 60 Minutes show on gastric bypass. Smart-forme makes a delicious chicken boulion that has 20 grams of protein, also they have cold drinks that are pretty good with 20 grams in them also, I tried the Wildberry passion. It was good a little sweet tart, but I didn't taste the protein. My favorite though is their hot chocolate...20 grams of protein and only 100 calories...yum. They have other liquid based drinks check them out. If you go to the Forums tab up in the menu bar and click on the DIET AND NUTRICIAN you can look up reveiws on products... worth a look...hope this hels...lauren
