Topic: RE: WHO'S ON THE LIQUID DIET?
I'm really struggling Penny, I want to eat my comfort foods so bad. I try very hard not to think about it, but I getting a little depressed and alot cranky, I really think I'm going through Carb withdrawal if there is such a thing. I'm feeling a little cheated. Boo Hooy ya know? 7 more days to go. I am hoping that going through this now, will make it easier on me after surgery. Thanks and lets keep in touch. "Keep the focus!"

Topic: Words of Wisdom for a newbie? May 7th
My surgery date is May 7th I am having a gastric bypass. I have quite a mix of emotions: excitment, relief and terror but I believe this is normal. I am very grateful that there are others who understand and are willing to share there experiences and lend support. It means a lot - Thank You I feel the need to more than my weight loss goals in actual writing. I want to commit to improving my quality of life. I want to do simple things, effortlessly, like tie my shoes and put on socks, pick up something I've dropped or walk and breathe at the same time. I hope to go on bike rides, hikes, walks, even amusement park rides with my family and to take my Granddaughter to the park. I want to fit in any car or plane seat and be able to go anywhere and know I can fit, whether it is an office waiting room, theater, ball park, restaurant, or wherever. I want to be able to find clothes and most importantly, cross my legs! Soon after the Doc said, basically, "lose weight or die before your children graduate college", I came to grips with the fact that wishing alone wouldn't change anything, that no fairy Godmother was going to tap me with her wand and no genie was going to offer me three wishes. I knew this surgery was the right thing. I understand that my success or failure depends on me and I will need help and support to succeed and all of you are so giving, it is great to know. Now that I have rambled on, I would like to know what suggestions everyone has about getting ready. Protein shakes vs. liquid protein in the beginning, liquid or chewable vitamins? Have a variety of products or what to see if tastes change like I have often heard? Any other words of wisdom? Bring anything helpful to hospital? Thanks for your help.

I confess I have had some things that are not the best. it will be a long time if ever before I have any again. People say give up now what you can't have then.I have to start only a five day 1000 calorie diet, not liquid so I guess thats better than most. I admit to saying goodbye to Toasted Almond Ice cream bars. Eggplant grinders, hersheys kisses and the most delicious Margarita I ever had. Goodbye fav foods but guess what, I did not gain weitht in the last couple of misbehaving weeks I actually lost 3 lbs. Probable not a good lesson. On Monday I begin my diet and I know I will stick to it. cheryl

Topic: endoscopy done
Hello everyone, just back from my endoscopy and preop testing. I was nervous for nothing! the worst part was they had to try 3 times to get the IV in. The spray stuff in the throat was not bad - cherry flavored! then I went to sleep and then I was in recovery room. Little sore throat but thats all. Met with the anesthesiologist as well, she had RNY herself and was very reassuring. I'm getting there, one step at a time.

Topic: The Last Supper...or SupperS!
It's terrible...I know this...its the reason mostly why I am in this predicament today... Is anyone else (pre liquid diet) eating whatever they want, whenever they want? Or almost eating what they know they probably shouldn't because it could very well be the last time in a long time they ever taste those foods again??? I can't say I'm going overboard but I am eating in ways I know I shouldn't especially eating out b/c I know I won't be able to for a very very long time. Which I am ok with but its like now or never...I start the liquid 5 optifast diet next week which I plan to stick to.

Topic: My How the Days Fly By....
Holy Smokes!! There are many of us quickly approaching our early May surgery dates. Me, Myself, and I have 12 days to go! 12 days? I started this process 9 MONTHS ago! I can't believe I am down to 12 days!!! I go in for my Pre-Op visit next Tuesday (4/29) and begin my OptiFast liquid diet () Like most I am NOT looking forward to this but I think will really help the cravings and boost weight loss tons!! I am SO very happy I only have to do it for 1-week instead of 2 though. Not sure why, didn't ask, dont' wanna know!
