Ditto on all your hopes and goals! as for what you need to get ready we are all newbies here. maybe posting on the May 07 board would be more helpful. They seem to be very helpful over there. Good luck on your surgery, I am May 5 I am actually getting less nervous as time goes by mostly thanks to the things I read on these forums. Cheryl

Topic: Anyone got any "last meal" choices on your list?
Anyone with surgery coming up and planning on eating their "last meal" somewhere? Where and what. Just curious. Mine are Red Lobster (mmm steak and shrimp mmm), IHOP (waffles and strawberries), and an ice cream cone.

I confess, I am too! I actually made a list of places I want to go to - Red Lobster (mmm steak and shrimp mmm), IHOP (mmm waffles and strawberries mmm), and a big ice cream cone. Those are my "last" things that I will eat. What about all of you? What are your "last meal" choices?

Topic: RE: Nesting Syndrome????
Geez, I thought I was the only nut! I'm actually making lists on what I want to get done before I have my surgery. Yeah, I, too want to have everything "perfect" when I come home. I was even going to cook and freeze food for my family until my husband reminded me that he can cook also and so can my 16 year old. DUH!!! I would have done all of this cooking and I would have smelled it and would have made myself sick!

Same here...I keep telling my self to stop, but then I decide it would make me happy...of course that's what got me fat! I hope I can buckly down when my 2 week pre-op diet starts, because I want to return to the dr.'s office with no gain. I also want to get to the point that I cna stop using food to satisfy myself in ways other than nurishment!

Hello Pamela, I too will be having surgery in May on the 19th. I am afraid, excited ,and very hopefull that this will work, I too have dealt with some of the same problems that you addressed, I find that lots of people are shallow and can't see beyond the shell of the person My grandmother used to tell me that if people never got to know me it was their loss, not mine as a child I never understood that saying but I do now and I agree with her, maybe we can experiance this together, maybe become computer/by-pass pals I'm new here so feel free to add me as a friend if you would like.Good Luck!!!!!!

And what a year it has been!!! It is amazing all the changes and everything having this surgery has done for me. I had RNY surgery May 29th, 2007 and this time last year that day seemed to take forever to get here!!! But from the day of surgery my life has changed forever and for the better!!!! I have two young children and boy have I had some amazing wow moments with them! Including fitting into bumper cars and go carts or other rides with them. And we are going to go swim with the Beluga whales at Sea World soon! I have been able to "pay it forward" and have been speaking to others at my doctors seminars and at hospital events which is as much a help to me as it is to those seeking information. It has helped me to stay focused on my weight loss. I even just ordered a bathing suit and acutally LIKE how it looks LOL! The first thing I noticed was the muscles in my arms!! LOL! I still have a ways to go. I started at 318 with a BMI of 52.9 and I am currently 195 with a BMI of 33. I want to lose about 45lbs more! The biggest thing my husband hates is my obsession with clothes and shoes. My shoes were all too wide after surgery and I am loving buying shoes. That and CLOTHES I hesistate buying because I am always going down in size but when I get to goal look out LOL! So my best to all of you as you begin this incredible journey!!! I will keep a seat on the "loser's bench" warm for you!!!
