You know this time last year I was starting to doubt whether I should or shouldn't go through it or not. But I am so happy I did! Just got back from the gym.....I have turned into a gym rat doing that before everything else .....if you woudl have told me I would ever be one of "them" I would have never believed you! LOL!

Hi Dianna. I guess "someone" was telling you no no no. But like me I don't listen. But you know that is how I got to be as big as I am right now. I just want to get these things out of the way and let my "tool" take over!

Hi The day before my liquid diet started I had pizza, pretzels, pastry and too much rye. My preop was the next day and let me tell you I did not feel good. Today is day 8 of the 14 day liquid diet and going strong (haven't killed anyone yet, although, I think it has been close, lol!). Enjoy your last meal and good luck with you for your surgery. Dianna

Topic: RE: WHO'S ON THE LIQUID DIET?
Hi My sympathies are with you. Today is day 8 of the liquid diet for me. I was told that I could have 1 cup of coffee with a little bit of milk and sweetner. I was also told I could have diet jello as long as I did not over do it. I am drinking lots of diet pop as well. The first three days I though I would lose it. I think it is getting a little bit better. I was actually able to cook supper for my husband. Right now I am at the point of bargaining re: Well, I could die on the table, so why don't I just start eating anyway and not worry about it. I spoke with my Surgeon's secretary and she said "Think of it this way, you are almost done, so why wreck a good thing?" I told her she sounded like the voice of reason and I like my idea better. lol!!. Are you using the optifast? That is what I am on. Good luck and hang in there. Hope your surgery goes well. The closer the surgery date gets the more I want to change my mind. Dianna

Hang in there Vicki. I do think this is good preparation for after surgery only I don't think you will experience the hunger you do know. Mental hunger is another issue. I keep thinking about the "Re-learning to ..." ads on tv for quitting smoking. If you can relearn to drive without smoking you can do anything. I think for us that if we can relearn to do other things to comfort us, we can do anything. Hope this helps. I am on day 7 with 6 more to go before surgery.

I bought a variety of protein products for after surgery...I have a list of things I bought to get ready for surgery on my profile...check it out. I love smart-forme products. They gave me samples at my program... I swear the hot chocolate is so good I bought 3 packages... I had to take into account that when I was buying this stuff that it was a little pricey, but its all I will be consuming so its actually cheaper than groceries... I spent about $160 in protein and it should be enough to get me through a month... I know I ate more than that before...lol....I had to get variety because I can imagine doing the same thing over and over again.... I'm doing the B-Complex sublingual liquid, the one I found has 1200 mcg's of B-12 where most only have 1000 mcg's...you can't overdo B-12 whatever your body doesn't need it just gets rid of it... I'm doing Flinstones chewables... my kids use them too so its better for us to buy a wholesale club amount of them at a time.. and its what my nutricianist recommends. I know that people I know brought things to do and ended up not using them...they all said you spend most of the time just out of it and walking and focusing on trying to drink what your supposed to... I'm going to bring comfy pants and shirts because I hate hospital garb...and I heard your either really hot afterwards or really cold.. so I guess I'll bring shorts too...lol... hope some of this helps...Lauren

We were cautioned against last supper syndrome.... I had a few that I spread out over the last few months... Chinese Food... steak and cheese sub, and Wrights Chicken Farm in RI... its all you can eat chicken, salad, pasta and rolls... best roasted chicken ever... but I'm in a very strict program and I can't gain weight... so I was good and careful about how I did eat my "lasts"...
