LOL, that's hilarious Kelly. I feel the SAME way. Trying my darndest not to give in even a little teeny tiny nibblely little bit - but its HARD. All I think about is food, all I eat is protein shakes and carrot sticks. sigh. Two more days...Two more days...

Mmmmmmmmm, OREOS!!! Yea, I hear ya' sista. I've been on this diet since Tuesday as well, surgery is 5/6. I've rediscovered my love for carrot stix and SF pudding that's for sure. Getting used to finding other things to do with myself instead of eat, but the brain hunger is KILLIN' me. I think about food ALL the time. I've resisted all temptations as well, til today too. Our 9th wedding anniversary is the day I come home from the hospital and we desperately want to go out tonight and celebrate. But for me "celebrating" means eating. WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Topic: RE: NEWBIE ALERT !
hi Lee Anne, You might find a lot of information in the forum for your home state. I have found people who have used the same hospital, even the same surgeon. I like the Roux-en-y forum, but that one is pretty active, and I can't keep up. I tried the over 50 forum, but didn't really fit in - they were too nice! Go to your first meeting with lots of questions. Go early and ask the other people sitting there. Everyone I have met seems willing to share information. I learned a lot at my first meeting. I thought I wanted a lap band and found that the RNY was definitely the surgery for me. I went to meetings at two different hospitals. There was a different feeling. My husband wanted me to go to the world class hospital, but I felt much more comfortable at the local community hospital. My PCP agreed with my decision. Good luck, Jayne (11 days 'til my surgery!)

Topic: RE: Pre-surgery Jitters
I know what you mean Sheila. My surgery is on 5/13 and its funny because I am anxious for the same reasons. What will I look like thin? Will I like the new me? I hear from my friends that have had wls that not everyone accepts the new you or the fact that youve chose to have wls. Some see it as the easy way out but it has been anything but easy making this decision. Good Luck and just have faith...you, we ill be just fine .

Topic: Pre-surgery Jitters
LOL My surgery date is only 12 days away and I find myself with pre-surgery jitters. I'm not worried about the surgery itself, I feel that will go fine it's the hospital stay ( I hate hospitals) and the post surgery lifestyle changes that will ensue. I find myself worrying about being normal sized, I can't even say the word thin in relation to myself LOL. I have never been normal sized....ever... and I find the thought , well a bit intimidating. I was wondering if anyone elsefeels or felt that way prior to surgery or am I just going kinda nuts for no good reason? Shelia

Topic: RE: surgery May 6th need to know?
I have my bag packed and I bought myself a new pair of running shoes (just to start out on the right foot ya know? lol) I'm bringing a Kenny Chesney teeshirt I bought at his concert last weekend some yoga -ish pants, socks and lots of underwear i"m paranoid about that lol and I've got all of my normal hygiene products. I also threw in some female stuff (tampons) because reading on the RNY forum a lot of ppl got their cycle and since I haven't had one since Jan 3 who knows it may show up. Our hospital provides gowns and pajama pants that are freaking awesome! So I'm not bringing any sleep wear. I also packed my house slippers and burts bee's wax lip cream and lotion where I"m diabetic my hands stay dry. Also a hair brush and the day of surgery my husband is going to keep my wedding ring around his neck w/ his dog tags. OOH OOH and I took off all the finger nail polish on my toes. Do you have to bath with a betadine scrub the morning of surgery?? I have to do that and pee in a cup for a pregnancy test.

Topic: Kim E.'s surgery
I just wanted to give everyone an update on Kim's surgery. I went to see her today and she is doing ok. The surgery went well and we walked a lap while I was there visiting. She filled me in what happens the day of the surgery. She seemed very positive and was doing ok but did have some pain. Jacque
