Wow! Congratuations on your preWLS weight loss...thats fantastic, and can only help the surgeon when he goes in to operate. I too will celebrate my new birthday with you. I am scheduled for the 12th....as well! I have also been doing the protein drinks for 10 days and have lost 13 lbs already. My blood sugars have never been better and I am so excited about the future. Id love to keep in touch to compare notes! Good luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers ~Christine

Topic: RE: Pre-surgery Jitters
My surgery is 62 hours away. I find I am being obessive about it., almost all my thoughts are directed there. My life will change but then again ...it must. I am setting small goals first go from severly obese to morbidly obese to overweight. AT that point I will set new goals. Its been almost 2 decades since I was a size 12-14 but though I am hopeful to get there again, right now, for my sanity, I need to go one day at a time during this "honeymoon" period, and make the most of ieach one. I do believe that being obese we have learned to hide ourselves and WHEN we become "normal-sized" we have to deal with the possibility that people will notice us and notice for reasons other than the fact we are big. It is a whole new mindset but how wonderful, to be given a chance to be seen for who we are and looked at for what we do without the predjudice of weight involved. Let us all raise our protein drinks in a toast to the future! You don't drown by falling in the water, You drown by staying there

My Doc requires only 48 hours prior. His nurse said this helps shrink the liver which helps the surgery. I also have to shower the morning of and use an anti-bacterial soap on my abdomen. 62 hours to go WOOHOO! You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Hi Debra, My Dr. says it's natural to be nervous. I feel the same way. Right now I'm going through my 2nd day of prep for surgery 5/5 5:45 am and that's kind of hard for me. I'm trying to look at it as I only have a few hours to go. Good Luck with your surgery I'm sure you'll do fine.

Welcome Frank! Sounds like with your blessed amune system and previous experience with surgeries you should do just stellar at this. Most ppl do. Just keep coming back here and checkin out posts of those of us that have the surgery to get a feel of what life will be like. I too have two small children 4.5yrs. and 3! I plan to have lots of support around me to help me care for them though so I don't over due it. I gave myself the week off of work and also have a desk job. Most ppl I know leave the hospital and totally resume their normal activities while watching a few things such as lifting, etc. I plan on taking it easier since I can. One day at a time Frank. This surgery will change your life for the better and give you many more years of happy life with your twins. GO FOR IT!!!
