Kelly,
Good luck to you and hope to hear back from you and how you are doing! The procedures aren't terribly different, in the end result we are headed the same direction. You are going to have a little different plumbing and I'm going to have smaller plumbing
Good luck to you we are both going to do great and be posting bikini pictures soon!
It does feel like Christmas in May! Take care!
Topic: Countdown T-minus 2 weeks
Time for another update (rambling).
This week on May 1st I started to somewhat start preparing my eating habits for surgery. I got my 2 new tubs of protein delivered (5lbs of Cafe Mocha and 5lbs of Chocolate Mint )
Sip Sip Sip! Chew Chew Chew! So I had been having 2 shakes to supplement for meals and one meal in the day. Except today I had 3 hard boiled eggs and a protein shake for breakfast. I then went a little overboard for dinner. DAMN STROUDS and their "PAN FRIED CHICKEN"! My cousin took my family out to eat tonight.... Well I had a case of the last meal type thing. Strouds is world famous for their fried chicken so I gave into it for tonight. But I'll be back on plan tomorrow! ( didnt really go overboard just chose to eat fried chicken breast and sides.) I plan to go back to 2 shakes a day and one sensible (protein loaded) meal until surgery on the 19th.
Well I had the sleep study done and the results are in... Yep they said I need to have a CPAP machine. I stopped breathing something like 48 times and my longest was almost a minute. Tomorrow I am being fitted for a machine. I will need to see the pulmonologist again in 3 months.
I also went and had my EGD done on Friday... what fun that was... really the people ther were so nice and funny. I loved having fun joking with the nurses while waiting for the doctor to arrive. They finally came back to my room where I had already had an IV started and wheeled me into another room. While in there the nurse asked me if I wanted a strawberry daiquiri or a margarita. I told her I don't drink but to fix me up with a jack and coke. She then came over to me hooked up a syringe to the IV, proceeded to give me whatever was in it and told me I may feel the room spinning and things may start to look fuzzy. I of course said nah I'll just stay awake during the procedure and I laughed .... HAH last thing I remember was saying that. I woke up as they were wheeling me into recovery and I like jumped up... I told them I was ready to go. They of course told me to just relax and they would come get me in a bit but I said I was fine and ready to go... so they pulled the IV and I stood up got my shirt on and I don't even remember leaving. My mom took me and brought me home. I stayed up and worked from home... Let me give a piece of advice.... If you are having this procedure done, Take the day off! I was up all day, and that night I was really grumpy. I passed out about 11PM and was fine the next day.
Well tomorrow morning first thing I will have my blood drawn for my pre-op blood work. Then I will meet the the anaesthesiologist for a pre-op consult since I have never in my life had surgery. Then as I mentioned before I will need to go get my CPAP machine and mask.
This Friday I am leaving town to go to a family reunion in Eufala OK I will be back on Sunday and I will go for my 2nd and final consult with my surgeon on Monday May 12th. At that time the countdown will be one week and I will post more on my journey and bewildering thoughts.

Yes, definitely keep your hands busy which will keep your mind busy. Find creative ways to get your liquids down....as creative as you can get I guess. LoL.
I go to bed a lot earlier too b/c my bad time is snacking at night.

Hey Kimberly,
My advice is "When your keyboard starts to look like oreos.. GO TO SLEEP!!!" I'm just kidding, I so far have done fine on my diet until the other night. My mind went into I guess a major craving for something I'm not supposed to have. It seemed that the tv that night showed nothing but food commercials and I guess you can say I had idol hands. Just try and stay busy.. .. alot of ppl go through nesting where you want to clean out stuff. I went through this but I think I'm doing it just to keep me busy and keep my mind off food period. Anyway, there's really no sound advice I can offer for this diet, just stay busy lol.
Congratulations too btw!!!
Lots of love

Topic: RE: daddy of 4 yr old twins starting to get cold feet
Hey Frank,
I wanted to sort of rest ur mind at ease with this. I visited a friend of mine who had surgery on 4/28 the day after her surgery in the hospital. She was up and moving and felt completely fine. The only complication she had was the gas pain other than that she walked the floors at least 4 times a day and she said she had minimal pain. She's now doing completely fine. I would say with your past track history you'll do great and it sounds like you do have a strong tolerance to pain and sickness. So that in itself is great news!
This is going to be the best and greatest decision you'll ever make in ur life and think of it as not as change, but as u taking charge of your life. It's a lot more easier to "chew" when you think of it that way.
Lots of love hon and know you'll do great with this and make it out just fine!!!
Topic: RE: Anyone not have to liquid diet pre-op??
My doc doesn't require anything until the day before. Just clear liquids that day and bowel prep. I am having surgery this Thursday. I am glad you posted your question because I have beent thinking the same thoughts, so many people are on a preop 2 week liquid diet.
