11 months out!
on 4/7/09 9:36 pm - FL
So sorry about the setbacks... You are doing fantastic!!
I have had a few setbacks also...1 at 6 months PO and then a foot surgery...deterred me from exercising...
I am quite frustrated with the same 5 pounds up and down...I cant seem to get past 165 from 302...has been weeks now! I lost 10 over the foot surgery ordeal where I was bed bound and nothing since!!
I go up 3 pounds then stay there for a few days then drop 2 pounds then go back up 1... nothing has changed with my eating or regimen except I am still recovering from foot and not able to walk long distance or put on a closed shoe...toes still very swollen and foot gets swollen if on it too long...I lost all my weight basically from the surgery until getting into a daily walking routine right before I had foot done...
165 was my original goal which I hit in Feb. ..I have since then decided to go to 145/150 which I thought I could make by May...our 1 year surgeryversary...probably not...still extremely happy with my results...size 9 Jr jeans , 8/10 misses and small/medium tops...
I feel like I eat too much on some days...like I can eat larger portions...other days I am barely hungry and doesn't take much to fill my pouch...Often wondering if I have stretched things out...my pouch or stoma??
Will be interested in others results these past months..
Congrats again and get well :)
Heidi
one thing we have to admit.....we've both done wonderfully with following the rules because of the weight we did lose :)
thanks a lot for the well wishes! *HUGE BEAR HUGS*
Im gonna bet that you'll get some relief from the drainage. Ive seen/heard many patients feel relief instantly so hopefully that'll happen for you.
Take care and try to enjoy the weekend and stay off of that leg!!

Ok now my other reason for posting...Cellulitis....I've battled Cell for the past 3 summers...always in August...my left leg/ankle/foot. I have to go right to the ER...they start an IV drip of Morphenine..thank God for that...the pain is unbearable! Then I'm in the joint for about 5-10 days depending on how bad it is..but now that I know what it's about I go as soon as I get the chills....then the redness starts about an hour later and so on....
So how did you get Cell??? I would think that losing the weight would keep it away...one of my main reasons for having the surgery.

Everything happens for a reason..Just believe...
Glad to see some of us are still posting...it has been a while for me. May 19 is my one year anniversary of gastric bypass and I am down only about 55 pounds total since surgery, but my quality of life has increased tremendously. In the past year I have had my diabetes disappear, gone off blood pressure meds, slept like a baby, stopped snoring, had much more energy throughout the day, and just started eating much healthier. I have had a few bumps in the road like you, having an ulcer pop up 3 months post op and fainting from loss of blood and being severly anemic .
I haven't lost any weight since about November! I know it's probably because I don't exercise and really haven't made a solid attempt to do so. I do get about 100 grams of protein a day and I probably should be getting more water in. I am interested to see my labs at one year.
Well, blessings to all and congratulations for the improvement in the quality of your lives. If I don't lose another pound, I'd never regret having the surgery.
