Hi! My name is Holly and I was banded on May 29, 2008. My insurance approval was a sinch, my surgery went just as well, however my biggest struggle is my patience. I have tried to make appt. with nutritionist, however my first appt. since my surgery will be Sept. 2nd. I have had 2 fills and still feel that I can eat entirely too much food (more than the 1/2-1 C. comfortably). I do get hungry within every 3-4 hours, and I have lost 17 pounds since pre surgery liq. diet/post surgery. I feel the weight should be coming off faster. Can anyone tell me if they have or are experiencing this same situation, and if so what have you been doing to get the weight loss process going. I would love to know what some of you are doing (nutrition wise-foods eating, etc.), and what I might be doing wrong. I am growing frustrated and discouraged and would love some input. I hope you all will bare with me, as I am not really good at posting, and will do my best. I love reading the posts, and I hope in the near future I can be of help to anyone needing it...I'm a great listener and supporter. Thank you all for being here! Holly Blake

Hi Holly, Congratulations on your surgery! I know your pain about eating too much. I have had one fill and go in tomorrow for my second fill. I hope to have better restriction with the 2nd fill. How many calories are you taking in daily? Sometimes you have to increase your calories and carbs to make the hungry feeling go away, I did. I started out eating 600-700 calories a day, which was about 3 weeks out. I am now up to 1100 calories per day and I try not to go over 100 g of carbs. I keep a food diary of everything I put in my mouth on a website called www.thedailyplate.com. I really like this website. It helps me keep track of my caloric intake and my exercise. I think that is really what helps me. Also, are you getting enough water and fiber? I think that helps too...? I really don'****ch my fiber, just my water. I hope everything gets better for you soon. I know it is depressing when the weight doesn't fall off. Maybe your body needs to catch up, mine did. I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss! Lori

Hello Holly, I completely understand your discouragement. I was feeling the exact same til last week when I got my 3rd fill. Dr. Moore said she really doesn't care if her patients don't start losing until after the 4th fill. But this 3rd one has really got me. I can't imagine getting it filled any more. I have to eat super slow. Bread is completely out. I think i've lost 3 pds in just the past week. which is good for me. Don't give up. Remember it's supposed to take 2 yrs. to lose all the weight with the lap band. And it'll stay off! Slower is better. Good luck! Joanne

Thanks Joanne!  I am sorry it has been a while since I have posted.  I have since had my 3rd fill and still feel no restrictions.  What amount of fluid (cc) are currently in your band.  I have a 9cc band and so far I have 7 cc in my band.  I go back next week for another fill.  I have only lost 20 pounds since my May 29th surgery and I realize it is supposed to go slow, but I get hungry throughout the day inbetween meals and when I do eat, I can eat way more than the 1/2 to 1 cup.

Has anyone else out there experienced such a thing and if so what was done???  Also, What is everyone's so called "sweet spot".

Have a great day and know I am not quitting!

Thanks for your input....I appreciate it greatly.
