I am having surgery on 5/21 and I stopped smoking a little while back and all day today I have developed a little sore throat and a cough...I don't know if this is going to effect my surgery or what has anyone had any problems like this?

You still have time to get over it. Take it easy for the next few days. If you still have a sore throat day of tell the nurse. I had a sore throat a few days prior to surgery and was fine.

I'm sure it's totally from quitting smoking (WTG, BTW) and you should get over it by the time you have surgery on Tuesday. For me I was in the ER 2-weeks before surgery with dehydration and they said as long as I felt ok and it was not respiratory I was ok. And I'd say you will be too. But if you still feel this way Tuesday AM just mention it to them. Good luck on Tuesday!!!

Hi I know when I quit smoking, I felt worse at the beginning. I would cough up a lot of junk from my lungs. Maybe it is your body's way of getting rid of the stuff caused from smoking? Good luck Have a safe and uneventful recovery. Di
