Plastic surgery after weight loss
I was just wondering how many of you out there have had abdominal Plasty after massive weight loss? I am hoping to have ROUN-Y in the next few months. Due to the number of children I have and long term obesity I already have a large pannus, sagging skin on arms, thighs, breasts and underarms . I am afraid that it is going to cause me great discomfort. I am uncomfortable with the skin overage; I already have. I read through all of the Medicaid information on it. I would like to chat with anyone that had the procedure with Medicaid paying for it. If anyone out there has had the arm, thigh lifts or breast reconstruction. I am interested in hearing about that as well. Thank you, for your time. I am trying to get every duck in a row in advance.

I am 3 yrs out now. I had two weightloss surgeries. Definately research this as much as possible! Although I have lost 140 lbsit hasn't been easy! I thought long and hard before having my surgeries and convinced myself that I knew all that I needed to know about the procedures. I was wrong! Today I am still learning about some of the long term effects that no one ever told me about.. nor did I ever read about. I am happy with my weightloss but it has come with some other costs..... even now I can't get enough vitamins, still can't eat the the things that I should be able to have now, hairloss, dry skin, tooth decay and loss. Medicare/medicaid paid for both of my surgeries so I was lucky there. I have had 3 hernia's and now a 4th which is basketball in size. Medicare/medicaid still wants to consider the removal of the pendilum as cosmetic even though all the doctores say it is medically to my benifit to have it removed because I will just continue to re herniate. The best advice I have to you or anyone else out there is really think long and hard, research research research! I can also honestly say that I no longer need much insulin and I no longer have to sleep wearing a cpap mask. Now I am trying to learn about removing this hideous apron and so far.. I don't feel that I have learned anything. God bless you and yours and good luck which ever choices you make. This procedure truly is a life altering descion and should not be taken lightly.
Lori is right. There is a lot to consider after the surgery. First, you need to lose the weight and work on your head. Drive the food demons out and set a good plan for long term weight maintenance. I am still working on this issue after five years.
I have had a panni and an abdominoplasty. I didn't have my arms done or my legs and probably won't . I just wear capris and 3/4 length sleeves, lol.
The plastic surgery was very painful and very expensive (and I had insurance approval). I had about $2500 out of pocket for that surgery. The bad side of it is that I abandoned my exercise program for a period of time during my recovery and didn't go back to it. Now, after five years, I am back on a diet. We are definitely a work in progress.
So have your surgery and work on your head, the rest will follow.........when it is time.
Good Luck!

I just went for my post op with my surgeon and he said because of my age and if I loose slow and steady I should have no problems in my arms and legs. He did say that because of the extra skin and stretching from having my kids, I will need a tummy tuck, that insurance pays for if its alot of skin. And he said because I'm young I'll probably want a breast lift, but I won't medically need it. And my husband is already saving for the boob job...lol... seriously worry about loosing weight and being medically healthy, then worry about extra skin. I would rather have extra skin then be dead from being obese...take it one step at a time... lauren
