I got home late last night. It was soooo good to be in my own home, my own bed and have my family around. Wednesday's surgery went well but there were a few post -op complications, nausea and S.O.B. (shortness of breath). I am unable to walk very far, okay hardly at all, but I keep trying. It is disappointing. So many people 5 days out say I am down 10 or down 12 or more pounds. I am barely down four My head knows this is a greta thing but I guess I just need to hear from others Thanks to all Trish

Sounds like you have been through so much. I dont have my wls until June 2nd, but my sister had hers last Monday. She has been very nauseas and still has not left the house. She has lost about 5 pounds. We can only take one day at a time. Good luck!

Hey Brooke...Welcome Home!! I was and am still sometimes quite nauseas. For me I dont' deal well with anesthesia, and I'm tired out quite easily. One day at a time. I haven't weighed myself yet and not sure I even will til I go to my 2-wk. post op appt. Make the appt. more exciting. teehehe Just rest and take it easy as much as possible. This WAS major surgery we just had.

Hi Trish Welcome home. I am 9 days out. In the hospital 2 days out, I was up 6 kg!!! Mostly it was water weight, inflammation, and swelling. It took a couple of days and now I am starting to loose. Were you on IV fluids? With any luck things will improve quickly for you. I just hope you start to feel better soon. I hope your recovery gets better. One day at a time. Di

Trish, I guess they tell us not to weigh ourselves for a reason. I came out of surgery 16 lbs more than I went in, now I am almost down to what I went in at. I am seven days out. I retain fluids normally but I had Fred Flinstone feet all week. I shouldn't weigh every day but I do, just curious. I know the weight will come off but we have to give our bodies a chance to really get back to normal. Some people are just quicker. I think it will even out in the end. Let us know in one month how you are doing Cheryl

hi Trish, Do you normally get motion sickness? During my pre-op visit, the anesthesiologist nurse asked me if I got motion sickness. She said there is a correlation between it and post-surgical nausea and gave me a prescription for one of those sea-sickness patches to start wearing the day before surgery. Of the three times I have had general anesthesia, twice I was very nauseated afterwards. We'll see how it goes on Wednesday. Jayne
