Please make contact with several people and let them know that this special "May 2008 Surgery Date" board exists. You will make many friends on this board that you may never meet, but you will have a special bond. We have a very close group over on the May 2007 board.
Here it is....on the eve of May 1st. It hardly seems possible that almost one year has passed since my surgery. You all have so much to look forward to and many great things ahead.

Best wishes to ALL of you. Strap yourself in for the ride of your lifetime. BE FAITHFUL TO THE PROCESS AND THE PROCESS WILL BE FAITHFUL TO YOU.

Dianna & Kelly,
Thank you. You will be amazed how quickly this process goes. Once you are past the surgery, your efforts will TOTALLY shift from being nervous to getting determined to drop that weight. Rest assured that what you are feeling now will be only a distant memory in just a year. You will wake up like me every morning and wonder what kind of dream you are in and wondering when it is going to end. Then you realize that this dream and the ability to keep it off really does rest in your hands. It is not always easy, but it will be a managable monster that you will have the ability to keep under control.
Best wishes to all of you Maysters of 08. Now let's get out there and run the good race...go team go...
John
Thank you john, your words are soothing to the heart. My surgery date is May 12, 08 and i also am very nervous. It really helps when we can read words from people that have already ran the race we are about to run. I will be thinking about contolling the managable .. Monster... Thanks! Bellasgrandma
Rita,
I remember so well being in awe of the ones who lost their weight and wondered if somehow this just wouldn't work for me. Now just one year later and I can't believe that I've been chosen to be one of those people. I say "chosen" because so many people here in Kansas cannot have the surgery because the major insurance company has has WLS exclusions (yes, sadly enough, the insurance companies choose who lives and who dies in this case through those exclusions). To even have this chance to live again is a great gift to be very grateful for. Think ahead to a year from now when you can offer some Mayster of 2009 a bit of encouragement during a stressful and worrysome surgery month. On a positive note, it will be whatever YOU decide to make it. This is a hard concept to truly understand. You will say that you understand it, but only after surgery, when you take the helm of this new ship, will you REALLY understand.
I really wish you the best.
John
Thanks, John, for the link. I'm going to check it out. also, thanks for the inspiration and kind words. I PLAN on being faithful to the process. I screwed up so badly getting fat that I finally have a wonderful tool that is going to be given to me on May 12th that I don't EVER plan on screwing that up. Debbi
