Hello from the future!
Hi there all you May 2008 folks! Just wanted to say what a great ride you are in for. I'm from May 2007 and down from 360lbs to 210 and still dropping. To be sure, some of us from May '07 had bumpier rides than others. But by and large we are all doing great and got through any complications by now.
My journey has given me a lot of WOW! moments and a lot of surprises. For example, I no longer worry about trying to get those first class upgrades when I fly. I now have more room in a regular seat than I had in first class at my full weight. It turns out that my car and motorcycle are actually both quite agile vehicles. Who knew? It gets weirder... my shoelaces are now too big? Yes, I have to double-knot my sneakers to keep the laces off the ground. The feet are still as wide and as long as before but...not as tall if you can imagine that. No more edema. A friend I hadn't seen in a year said I looked "svelte" last month. That means "slender or lithe" according to Webster. WLS helps your vocabulary? It's true! Again, who knew? One of the best things is that my adult kids (22 & 24) are now walking with me on weekends. Which is good in and of itself but *really* satisfying that I can walk them both into the ground. Perhaps even more so if they are able to catch up because this all will have made them healthier too.
So here I am - you a year from now! Feeling great, done with asthma, BP rock solid at 120/60, resting pulse rate around 45 and wearing a pants size I haven't seen since Middle School. Funny thing about the losers bench there's more room on it every day. I'll save you a seat!
