Topic: My 4 Month Surgiversary!
Today's my 4 month surgiversary and I'm a little melancholy today. Last night at dance, the mom of the director took me aside and said "what the heck have you been doing? You're so SKINNY!". Now, I thought EVERYONE at class knew I had had surgery. I love this lady. She's just a few years older than me and was my front instructor when I was in marching band in high school. She was afraid to ask for fear my breast cancer "scare" 2 years ago became a reality. I told her what I did, proudly showed her my scar (which is looking great and fading quite nicely) and told her all about my new life. She was so happy and demanded the name, number and everything about my surgeon. Another mom at dance had another surgeon but same practice. She asked all the right questions. I told her what we give up (very little) but would YOU trade a cheesesteak for 80 pounds off your bod in 4 months? I wouldn't either. I was looking at the pics taken the night before my surgery and wondered how the hell I let myself get like that. But, then I sit here in my t-shirt and brand new size 16 Hanes workout pants (no sweats this time!), dying to take my kid to school so I can take a 4.5 mile walk today, and I'm so darned thankful that I found OH, found my wonderful May surgery family, and found that I CAN be healthy, I CAN lose the weight, I CAN live long enough to be a great mom. I CAN do anything I want to do now! So, thank you to all of you! When the family wasn't very cooperative (well, the *D*H), I knew I could come here and find all the support and motivation I could ever need. Thanks to my May family, and working my tool right, I hit -80 lbs. this morning. I feel so good and so blessed. How could I ever keep my mouth shut about a miracle like this? I hope you all have a great day! I'm gonna celebrate my surgiversary!!!!! * Cyndi *

Pre-op: 242 Last week: 175.8 This week: 171.8 Loss this week: 4lbs this week Total loss: 70.2 lbs I'm surprised because I haven't been able to work out due to a car accident two weeks ago, but I've lost more weight in the last two weeks than I was when I was working out... weird. I just can't wait until the physical therapist clears me to work out again!

Wow...Last week we were all talking about all of our stalls. Look at the great weight losses this week.....WAY TO GO everybody. Starting: 347 Surgery: 300 Last week: 242 This week: 237 That is minus 5 for me too. 10 more pounds and I'm saying bye to the OBESE label. To hit my goal of 10 pounds a month lost, for October I need to lose 3 more pounds. That should be easy enough...maybe I can start working on my November weight soon. Have a great week everyone. John

Mary Anne, You are probably retaining water. I do the same thing and the hydrothorothyozide is a water pill which probably got some water out of your system. Keep taking them because I am 60 and we do retain water easier when we get older. I take the same pill every day. Make sure you are taking Potassium with it though so you don't get leg cramps. You are doing great. Hugs, Esther

Hi Courtney, I am so busy at work that it's easier for me to just drink Protein Shakes and maybe some cheese. When I get home I have meat. I only do this during the weekdays. On the weekend, I stick to mostly protein but I have an egg for breakfast, a veggie burger without the bun for lunch or a salad and steak for dinner. I relax on the weekends but by Monday morning I am ready to go back to my shakes because I feel like I overeat on the weekend. I am so afraid to start eating the wrong things because I am scared to death of gaining my weight back so I don't feel so guilty eating on the weekend if I am good all week. Like Saturday night, I was dying for a Chili Dog, bun and all and ate one and was sick to my stomach and suffered for it. Sometimes I crave veggies so on the weekend, I have squash or broccoli or califlower. My doctor wants me to stay only on protein but I can't completely. But the protein does work! Hugs, Esther

Esther---all you eat/drink is protein shakes throughout the whole day and then eat meat at night? Ahhhh...bless you, my friend! I know I couldn't do it. I haven't been able to tolerate protein shakes AT ALL since my surgery. I just try to get my protein through food---whether it's chicken, turkey, lean beef, steak, pork chops, low fat/low sugary yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, eggs, milk, low fat cheese........etc. But NO WAY could I spend 4 months drinking shakes! You're a saint....lol. J/k! Way to go though!! You've lost a ton of weight! I'm down 89 lbs---at 4 months out. But I'm ready to be down 100~! Oh...and as for what you're doing wrong, Krissy..........the only thing I could recommend for you is to up the protein...lower the carbs...and find some exercise that you like to do! I joined curves a little over a month ago and I try to go at least 3 days a week--I really enjoy it....once I get my but there! =) Have a good one and keep working at it! Courtney

I was stuck for a while and then went back to pure protein. I do 3-4 shakes a day, have turkey or chicken or beef for dinner, maybe a chicken soup (I make my own) for lunch and my 2 SF fudgsicles for a snack while watching TV at night. I include my liquids in my 64+ oz a day. So, with 3-4 shakes I'm getting 30-40 oz of liquid in. I am good about exercise for the first time in my life. I walk 3.5-4.5 miles a day. I grab some water and my iPod full of fun Motown, Beatles, etc., music and have a blast. Doing that, I lost 6.2 pounds last week. Good luck!!!!! * Cyndi *
