Sounds fine to me because I am pretty much at a stand still.

Before surgery                  279.5

Last weight in                   159

This week                          158

This week                          1 pound

I go up and down now and it drives me crazy.

Hugs to you all,
Esther

My weight this morning was 140.2.  I'm continuously bouncing between 138.2 and 141.  It's weird.  On days I force myself to eat, the scale is naughty the next morning.  If I eat like a pig (or I think I'm overeating), the scale goes down the next morning.

I have to get back to being faithful to my vitamins.  I won't get into it here but I've found myself "rationing" my pills because "someone" (won't mention his name), has it in his head I was only supposed to be faithful to them until I hit goal.  Soooooooooooo I find myself rationing.  I honestly feel like crap.  I'm so tired and just feel icky all the time.  I see my surgeon tomorrow.  I know he'll flip out on me but what am I supposed to do.  Ya know?

I'd like to hit 135 as my bottom number.  But, I don't want to get much smaller.  At 5'8" I don't think 3-6 pounds off will really make a difference visually.  It's just the number *I* want to see.  If I get there, terrific.  If not, I've still lost almost 130 pounds!  Anyway I look at it I've still been successful.

Here's to a terrific October!

I'll be the first to start. My weight for the month of October is 191. To determine your weight you can use any of the days one week before the 1st of the month. Take your lowest weight leading up to that time. It doesn't matter what the weight is, you just need to be faithful and post it EVERY month. I even put in my results of the last 6 months and encourage the same.

Month                  Lost          Weight
May 2008              1 lb         Wt. 197
June 2008             2 lbs        Wt. 195
July 2008              0 lbs        Wt. 195
August 2008         0 lbs        Wt. 195
Sept. 2008           3 lbs         Wt. 192
Oct 2008              1 lb          Wt. 191

Have a great month. In my mind, I have no clue why this weight seems to keep coming off. I feel like I eat way too much, but the malabsorption is still alive and well. I have to prepare for the time when the malabsorption will not be such a factor. I don't want to gain...

Topic: RE: Calories & Protein ?????
We're all different and our NUTs give us different guidelines.  My surgeon wants me to stick around 60 grams of protein each day.  I do get close most days.  Are you drinking enough fluids?  I understand the lack of exercise.  I had my right knee done in 1987 and my left knee in 1989.  That's when I really started the weight gain.  Adding the rotator cuff tear really will do a number on you.  I'd say walking but with the knee I don't blame you for staying away from that.  I'll have to think about exercises.  Is your orthopedic surgeon giving you anything for pain?  I find that when I feel crappy or depressed I want the carbs.  When I feel good I have an easy time staying away from them.  The best thing I can think of is don't buy those pesky carbs.  When I get my cravings I still head for my SF pudding or a SF/FF fudgesicle.  I never got tired of them.

I would ask the orthopedic surgeon what exercises you can do.  Keep both surgeons informed of what's going on.  All I can do is wish you the best on your knee surgery.  I had reconstructions.  Now I wish I'd had knee replacement.  My grandmother had knee replacement at age 80.  Man, she did GREAT!  I have a feeling once you get that new knee you'll want to walk and the pounds will fly off.

Good luck!

Topic: Calories & Protein ?????
Hi everyone. just had a couple of questions.  I had lap rny on may 15, 2007, i have yet to get to my drs goal of 170. Been stuck back and forth for the last 3 months between 189 -192. I'm not on any calorie count as of yet, and the more i lose the less protein they give me. Right now i am only suppose to get in 52 grms of protein a day. Is this enough??? I feel it should be more, that is why i'm asking out to others who have had surgery in may of last year to where you are now? I know i'm stuck due to lack of exercise, but i do follow everything else. The exercise is because i'm going in for a total knee replacement on nov 20th, and i also have a tear in the tendon in my left rotator cuff, which is making exercise very difficult to do.  I'm in alot of pain theses days. Right now i'm finding myself craving the carbs, the bad ones.. I try to eat right but this is getting the best of me lately.  How do i break this old nasty habit, before it breaks me.... Please, any advice would sure be helpful at this time.   Thanks in advance... darlene

Woohoo Donna!!!  Enjoy that ac! lol  I'm glad you're all well.  I can't imagine no power for 8 days.  Britt would have heart failure if she couldn't be on her laptop for 8 days. LOL

Have a great time cleaning!  (That sounded kinda sick, didn't it. LOL)

Love it, love it, love it!  And, if ya'll don't mind, I'll be happy to take December as a facilitator (haven't heard that word since my days at DuPont LOL).  I need some butt-kicking as I've been doing a little "emotional eating" lately.  My scale hasn't shown it...yet. lol  As for chats, I'm there too.  If my Cowboys are playing I might not be "as" attentive, but I'll be there. LOL

I've gotten too blase about my new life.  Got lots of compliments at a party with the hellish side.  But, yippee, I wasn't the fattest woman in the room!  Shoot, I was one of the smallest.  Nice change.  And not one insult from my a-hole uncle.  Shockers!

So, okay, May Family.  I'll see ya'll here October 1st.  Let's get back in the reporting groove!

Hi John,

First of all, you look incredible and you should really be proud of yourself.  You also have every right to be proud of your children and you wife.  It's so good to hear from you.  You were originally one of my OH friends that helped me get through it all.  Can you believe over a year has passed?  I am so amazed.  We have all done great and now we need to help each other with the stabilizing stage.  I too feel happy but I am just so afraid of gaining that I think I am overdoing it a bit.  Keep up the good work and thanks again for checking in.  Keep it up!

Hugs,
Esther

"Well, I was thinking that perhaps we should just have our weigh ins at the first of the month and only do one per month. My thought is that everyone should set a goal that they want to stay at and then if they go over that, they need to get back on track. High or low, type that number and be accountable. That way we can still check in every month and keep in contact. What do you think? If I don't get many replies, I may throw this part of the post into a separate one (which I'm doing now). Be ready with that first one on October 1st...that falls on a Wednesday."

The above paragraph was pulled out of a post below that Esther started...so you prompted a good idea Esther. It would be more fun if we had a rotating host each month. The only requirement of the host would be to reply back to everyone who checks in and give some form of encouragement (even if we don't deserve it..just kidding). Unless someone objects, I'll take the month of January. I have off from school and I think I would make a great butt kicker for anyone who let the holidays get the best of them. I'm just kidding...I'll be gentle...I promise. Also, the host has the job of sending a PM to at least 10 people encouraging them to submit...those whom we've not heard from for a time. We can even make this requirement optional...yep...I'm pretty easy going these days. I know one of my goals is to get T.Rob to cast a post upon us.

Also, I think that anyone who would like to join in the fun could stop on in for a quick chat on a monthly basis (we will go quarterly if interest dwindles or lacks). We seemed to do pretty well when we did the Sunday schedule back in 2007. So, I'm proposing that we give it a try to see if anyone wants to join in. The most logical would be to set it up as the Sunday following (or including) the first of the month. We will plan to chat at the following times: 6 pm (Pacific) 7 pm (Mountain) 8 pm (Central) 9 pm (Eastern) (these are all simultanious times - so join for 10 minutes or whatever. I'm guessing how busy everyone is, probably about 45 minutes would be the maximum, but we can play it by ear for now.

Let's march on this new journey together...keeping off what we've worked so hard for thus far.

John

P.S. Now taking nominations for hosts (facilitators - fancy name so you can put it on a resume..lol) in October, November, December, February, March (6 months at a time I guess). Just call out your preference...
