Long plateau and slightly bummed.
Hey guys......well I'm a newbie to this particular blog...or whatever you call it. I've been coming to this site for about a year prior to my RNY surgery on May 23/07 and have been trying to get on here for as long. For some reason my computer would kick me off every time I tried to come to the May 07 spot to chat with you all....but now I'm here
Well I started my journey at 348 lbs and I am sitting at 232 right now.......heading into my 11th having lost a whopping 116lbs....problem is......I haven't lost anything in over 3 months...nothing.......not a single pound. I'm not sure what is happening...I lost a consistent 10 lbs a month for 6 months...then it stopped completely....has this happened to anyone........and do you think that it will start up again at some point.....or am I where I am going to be now forever........though much happier I have not reach my personal goal of hitting onederland........any thoughts?
Tina....
Hang in there. You know what you have to do, and are probably doing it. You have lost a lot in a little amount of time. Make sure you get in tha****er, vitamins, and lots of protein. Change up your excerise....and even change up what you eat. Since it is finally getting warm where I live, I hope to get the scale moving again by getting outside soon.
I need to practice what I preach....but just remember Rome was not built in a day....keep coming to the boards and you will see everything start to move in the right direction again soon!!!!!
Congratulations on what you have accomplished and good luck in the future.
Hugs, Holly
Thanks Holly....I am walking quite a bit and doing some swimming.....I am actually terrible with the water thing but I try....I guess I should up this.....I have reintroduced a few things back into my diet that I'm going to remove again to see if this helps.......I am pretty diligent still....I don't eat bread, pasta, or anything with over 5 grams of sugar in it........I try to eat at least three small meals a day and healthy snacks like fruit and vegetables and I still drink protein shakes on occasion. I would love it if someone out there had a healthy food list that they could share with me........I know the basics but I'm certainly no pro on the nutritional side of things.......there might actually be some out there that I am not aware of....having a wide variety of foods that are healthy would certainly be beneficial and keep me on the straight and narrow....anything I can do to be proactive will work for me....thanks for the kind words and congratulations and your success...what a ride this is ehhhhhh. lol.....I'm a Canadian.
Well...I don't know if i can offer up much advice......I had my RNY on May 17th of 07...and I've lost about 157 lbs. Sounds great, right? Wrong!! I haven't lost any weight in probably the last 5 to 6 weeks or longer. Prior to that...I was losing very sporadically since around January. I used to be consistant at around 15+ lbs/month loss. I've always worked out since about 6 weeks after my surgery...but starting in mid-January I changed from Curves to 24 hr fitness. I felt like Curves was too easy for me at that point. I've been working out pretty consitantly....usually 3-6 days a week...with a combo of cardio and weight training (minimum 30 minutes of cardio every time). I have gone from a size 24 pants in the beginning of January to a size 16/18 now...so I know i'm losing inches. However, I KNOW I should've seen a change in the scale by now. I think I've allowed some bad eating habits to creap back in. Not always pushing the protein first...probably eating too many carbs....andddddd...DRINKING WITH MEALS!!!!! I have gotten REALLY bad about it...and I know it can cause big problems with hunger. You wash the food right out of your pouch--so that feeling of satiety is gone. I've stopped this...and gotten back to basics starting yesterday. I'm not going back to protein shakes...I'm just going back to what I know is right. We'll see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't...i'll be visiting with my surgeon! Good luck!

Tina, I can so relate, I was stalled for at least 2 months, and even gained some weight, but always seemed to take it back off. I stayed the course, drank some more water, and mixed up the exercise. I have now lost for 2 weeks in a row, and feel that I am back on the losing side. I know it is hard, but hang in there, and keep doing what you know is right. Mix up your eating, have more protein earlier in the day, and less right before you go to bed, change up your exercise routine, do more reps, or a different kind altogether. Good luck, you can do this. Gayle
Seems to be something that happens to some people, I guess - I am right there with you guys. I doubt I lost anythingthis month, and didn't think I lost last month. But when I went to my NUT appointment last month, I had lost about 6 pounds but the amazing thing was that all of it was fat! I think that has something to do with the exercise.
So that kind of measurement as well as measuring inches are other good indicators. We just have to keep the steady course and not get discouraged - because that road leads to a not great place, one I NEVER want to visit again.
Let's all of us "stallers" keep in touch.....
