I hope you're all enjoying your Easter. Since I want the battle to end for Brittany, I asked the Easter Bunny NOT to fill her basket full of chocolate and candy. Instead, she got one chocolate bunny, a couple peanut butter eggs, Guitar Hero 80s Encore game and the Enchanted Deluxe Edition DVD. I can't wait to see that movie! I did break down and have one Reese's Peanut Butter egg. But, I had ONE instead of four like I used to. LOL I hope you all had a great week! Highest right before surgery: 265.8 Day of surgery: 255 Last week: 144.8 This morning: 144.6 Loss this week: .2 pounds (big deal lol) Total pounds lost: 121.2 pounds Pounds until surgeon's goal: -5.4 pounds Pounds until MY goal: I'm below it baby!!!!! * Cyndi *

Sigh...still hovering at 218. Last week I traveled to New York for a client briefing and the sales team took us out to eat two nights in a row. First night we went to Legal Seafood and I ordered salmon. Next night, petite filet at Ruth's Chris steak house. I almost never have red meat and certainly stay away from the real expensive stuff on normal occasions so this was a rare treat (pun intended). Ended up leaving about $20 worth of the filet on the plate because it wasn't petite enough! But at the end of the day, I think it was that piece of NY cheesecake that did me in. Everyone else ordered dessert and I figured I'd splurge and have a little cheesecake while I was in NY. I wish, I wish, I wish that I got dumping syndrome. Then maybe I'd have an easier time fighting off dumb thoughts like this one. Ruth's Chris doesn't serve slices of cheesecake. They serve you a personal-sized cheesecake. And it tastes goooooooooood. So when I thought I'd have "a little cheesecake", that's exactly what I ended up eating - an entire little cheesecake. So yesterday I tried to work it off doing yard work and today I'm sunburned and blistered. I'll be paying for that mistake for weeks, I suppose. -- T.Rob

As I see it you're doing great! Okay, so you had the cheesecake. How often do you have NY cheesecake? Remember, this is for the rest of your life. Just bru**** off as a rare thing. Isn't it funny how servers look at you when you leave a bunch of food? lol We rarely go to Applebee's because the Cracker Barrel staff is SO good to me. The server was so upset that I left the entire burger bun and 3/4 of the burger patty and all but two fries on my plate. She was so frazzled that the kitchen manager came out. LOL The kitchen manager knows me and knows about my surgery so she finally calmed down this kid. But, I was cracking up. Don't wish dumping on yourself! Yikes, can you imagine how horrible that would have been during a dinner meeting? Just brush yourself off and KNOW this week that pesky scale will move in the right direction. I can't wait for some warmth here. I want to get my new garden started so bad! But, I still refuse to wear shorts. Enjoy your week! * Cyndi *

Thanks for the encouragement, Cyndi! I usually do all my shopping on Sunday but Easter snuck up on me and I found myself with an actual day off. So I went and walked around my neighborhood this monring/afternoon. Two hours, close to seven miles, a quarter mile in elevation change, open up and sprint from time to time. When I got home my son was sitting on the porch waiting for me. Before I could go in to shower, he wanted to know if I'd show him what I needed him to do to help seed and fertilize the yard. The large parts of the yard are easy - just drag the spreader around behind the lawn tractor. But there are several places where we need to break up the soil with a rake and hand throw the seed and fertilizer. So I spent another hour working in the yard. And, yes, I remembered the sunscreen this time! I feel MUCH better about the whole situation now. For what it's worth, I never wear shorts while gardening. I like to be able to take the pants off and leave most of the dirt in the garage before coming in. If you have any kind of decent soil, whether loamy or clay, you can get downright filthy. So even in the summer I'm all about long pants, boots and gloves in the garden. Smear some dirt on your pants leg and nobody will think you are wearing them to cover loose skin. -- T.Rob

I would have done the same thing T.Rob. When you have the chance to enjoy a little extra...take it. Then you can always get back on the stick. It is great that you had such a good time...so just don't feel guilty. Okay, time to hit it again... John

Not weighing myself anymore....for now. I'm still stuck at 148 - I had a visit with my surgeon last week and he feels that for all intents and purposes, I am "done". My NUT feels otherwise: she says with the amount of exercise I am doing, I still have more weight to lose. Because it was becoming such an unhealthy obsession and was really making me crazy, I decided to take a break from the scale. Only weighing in at the doc's or at the NUT's for now. In a way I did reach my goal - I eat differently, I have lost nearly 90% of my excess weight, I exercise regularly...I need to (as my NUT says) have my head catch up with my physical success. Yeah, I had a number in my head - not going to make that anytime soon, especially not by my one-year. I WOULD like to reach a normal BMI by one year - I'm about 3 points away. So I am working hard at getting my head space in the right place - and that, my friends is also a success, of sorts. The *other* Cyndi

Hang in there Cyndi! My scale was stuck at 148-150 for about 5 weeks then BAM it started moving again. What is the "bottom line" number you want to reach? I think your NUT may be more correct than your surgeon. My surgeon told me I'd be lucky to hit 150 after being stalled at 152 for forever. lol Eh, what do they know. LOL You can do it! Step away from the scale for a bit. Are you tracking your foods? Maybe there's something going on that's making you hold onto 148. Stranger things have happened. You'll get there. Just be patient! * Cyndi *

Ach - it's been more than 5 weeks, or that's what it feels like. Originally I wanted 135 since that was the top of the insurance charts for my height. Now, I more realistically am aiming for 140, since that will get me to a normal BMI. Scale has been put away, am tracking my food religiously (almost pathologically) in 4 places and am trying to increase proteins and fiber, However, I find that I'm becmoming hungrier too. My NUT says this has to do with the increase in my level of exercise, but she insists that I'm doing fine. It's a matter of patience a recognition that I am doing (mostly) the right things, an awareness and planning of what I need to eat, and to stop whining. and be gratful! Thanks, Cyndi I appreciate the encouragement more than youknow! The *other* Cyndi
