I Need Help!

I have been failing with the lap band and I need support. My last fill was in Sept. 2007 and I have not lost a pound. Over all I have lost around 40 lbs. and I am happy with that but all of that weight was lost in the first three months. I am struggling with throwing up a lot. I am at a loss with WHAT THE REAL PROBLEM is. I had a X-Ray done of my band and they found nothing wrong. I feel like a lot of my problem now is just mental. I think about what I am going to eat all day, wondering if it will stay down or if I will throw it up. It have begun to be a game for me. I experiment with food. I am not eating well at all. As much as I throw up, I would think that I would loose weight but I dont. I have been loosing and gaining the same six pounds for the last four months. I am not getting the support that I need from the surgen. We have one support goup a month that I have not been able to attend for whatever reason.I know that this is my own fault but, I asked to speak with someone that has had the surgery and has been successful, and they would not or could not give me a name. I am upset and angry with myself because once again I feel like I am failing at weight loss. Please tell me what your thoghts are and how to get back in the loosing game?

Hi Stephanie, I'm sorry you are having so much trouble, have you tried going on the lap band board? Most of us on this board have had the RNY gastric bypass. I know how frustrating these stalls can be as I have been in one also. Does your support group have other lap banders and if so can you get together with them? I hope you get your answers. Hugs, Sue

It has been said already but most of us activly posting are RNY but from a personal be your own advocate soapbox I would go back to the surgeon and make an appt. maybe you are too tight. Or i do know from being a lapband patient until a week before surgery that there are times like early am that you are tighter than others and it was told to us in classes I attended to drink warm liquids first. but I agree with Sue you need to find support in your area.......lapbanders that have gone through what youare going through. You can post on your State board and ask them if there is anyone in your area.....maybe that would help. But please seek help. No matter what type of surgery there seem to be ups and downs but I will tell you my support here on this board and in my local support group......I would not make it without it. Donna

Stephanie, I have experienced the same problems since my last fill in August 2007. I know that I seemed to be doing really well before that, then all of a sudden couldn't seem to digest any protein and starting eating the chocolate because I could digest it. I actually gained back 10 of the pounds that I lost. No slippage, nothing like that... Well, I have started just trying different proteins, eating a LOT less and a LOT slower, even than what I was in the beginning. Well, I have lost that 10 pounds again, however, still have 75 to go. As with you, I am happy with losing that 65 pounds, but want a lot more gone. You are not alone in this, you will start losing again, just try different foods. I am finding that with me, I need to stay away from as many carbs as I can. It seems to be helping, even with the throwing up. Chicken I just can't do anymore. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to email me at [email protected], Maybe together we can figure this out... Keep up the faith...
