[ Edit Introduction]Hello I am Maggie & this is my story. I guess I should begin at the beginning. I am 52 years old ( 5/15/1955) and the mother of 4. My children are Matthew 28, Heather 24, Samantha 22, & Michael 15. I had a fantastic body as a girl and was very athletic. As I had my family I got bigger & bigger. I developed a very bad back and I was unable to work. My blood pressiour was getting out of control. I first heard of gastric bypass surgery about 12 years ago when a close family friend had it and had grate success. At that time I was trying every diet that came down the road and failing miserable. My daughter-in-law was a very big girl and young. I watched her have the surgery in 2003 and then she got pregnant before she was a year out. Since then she is about to have her 3rd child. I hope & pray that after this child she is able to lose her weight. In early 2007 I was very depressed. My husband never seemed interested in sex, mined you he never complained. I think he didn't even know it was my weight putting him off.... THAT HAS CHANGED :) . I decided I was going to look on the internet one more time. I knew I needed to have good support & didn't want to go out of my area as my daughter-in-law had done. I searched on Google & low & behold up popped a local doctor. He sounded fantastic & I made that all important first phone call. The office staff was fantastic and I was in Dr. Bobby's office within a week. I was surprised, amazed and impressed how fast things went. Dr. Bobbie had me jumping through a lot of hoops. I went to see several specialists over the next few weeks. I saw a pulmonary specislists, & a cardiologist. Thank God I didn't need to see a diabetic Dr. as I hadn't reached that point yet. It turned out my insurance paid for everything!!!!! If you had asked me a year ago what the most life changing thing I have ever had was I would of said having my children. But now it is having my gastric-bypass. I had my surgery on my birthday 5/15/2007, today is 1/14/2008 and I have lost 100lbs!!! I ha happier then I have been in years. If I could say anything to help anyone it would be this: Lister to your DOCTOR. fallow directions. Never be in a hurry to eat a lot. be happy to eat a little and make it the best. Go fourth and have a life and God bless you all. Thank you Dr. Bobbie I never could of done it without you!
