Ok, so there I was sitting in my surgeon's seminar for the what....7th, 8th, 9th time....waiting for it to be my turn to answer questions. Paying attention trying not to make eye contacet with my doctor with the smirks on my fact when he says something that may be true for most but was the opposite for me.....he always looks at me at those times when I am am saying to myself (well not exaclty or ha not for me LOL) well today he was to the section of the benefits of surgery and someone asked "does your body eventually level off and know when to stop losing weight. Does it slow down" We had just gone over that it takes burning 3800 calories to lose a pound....380, 000 calories to loose 100 pounds (when excercisng to loose weight) and that 1 candy bar =300 calories. My doctor's response was yes and that as your body is lighter you will burn less claories carrying it around than you did before. ah-ha!!! that is it!!! That explains the rut a lot of us are in!!!! It made total sense!!!! We were losing more at a faster pace when there was more of us to carry around.....So as you reduce your weight your activity would need to increase to make up the differnece!!!!! Or your pounds lost will be less each week! So who wants to test this theory out with me? Just increase your activity by a small percentage this week and see if that makes a difference. Of course I was thinking to loud....or figidting too much as he looked at me like I would look at my kids when I want them to behave in public LOL! But it was information I think several of us can use right now! Donna

So, your doctor looks at you the same way mine looks at me. LOL I am totally the opposite of everything! He has a lot of patients who feel like death on day 2. I was ready to go home I felt so great. I understand the 3800 calories and all but here's my sad, dopey body for ya. Last Sunday's weigh-in I had lost .4 pounds. Yup, just .4 pounds. I worked my tail off at the gym. So, at this Sunday's I had lost almost 5 pounds!!! I went to the gym twice, thought I was eating like a pig AND had M&M cravings like crazy that, yes, bad me, fell for. The previous week I was getting in like 70-80 oz of liquids a day. Last week I was lucky to get 40. So, the theory works great for "normal" people. My body is so messed up. LOL Maybe if I sit on my butt trying to eat an entire pizza I'll hit goal. LOL Have a great day! * Cyndi *

yes but it sounds like you may be doing to much! follow Biggest Loser? Kim was having to get Bryan to eat more.....he was not taking in enough calories to burn with all the excercise he was doing.....so in your case you may be doing too much.....or you made need to look at your protien/caloric intake? ......just a thought! That was me as well btw. The day after surgery I had this amazing feeling....sense of years added to my life and was ready to go, but I had to stay another night. But yes I am the opposite of just about every example It is hilarieous. He stops what he is saying to add..."MOST people" gets a laugh out of me everytime!!!!

Oh Donna, thank you so much. It does make since, I have been struggling to loose my last 10 pounds and reach goal and I have been in turtle mode. Plus the holiday goodies are just so tempting. I've gone back to basics this week and now I know I need to up the activity level. Now if I'll just do it!! Thanks, Sue
