I am giving myself an attitude adjustment...kind of long
I think maybe i have set myself up for disappointment. I adh set my goal for 130 at my 1 year mark and that would be a total loss of 132 lbs. I have decided to change my goal to a total loss of 100 lbs. at 1 year and work on the other 30 after that. I have never been really good at setting realistic goals and disappoint myself every time. So feedback about my goals would help also.
Another adjustment is my thinking on exercise. Well I finally did it. Every day I take my kid to Karate for 1.5 hours 5 days a week, and usually I stick around and talk with all the other moms that are there with their kids. Well the ironic thing is that there is a Curves on the same corner of the studio. Since my surgery I have been telling myself that I can walk around the studio while the kids are doing their thing...well that never happened. Now that it is dark so early, it is not so safe for me to be walking around the building at night (not in the best neighborhood - not very many safe neighborhooods at night in El Paso). So after talking to my DH and telling him that I HAD to make this kind of commitment ($$) in order to make sure that I exercise everyday, I dropped the kids off last night, did not even enter the door, so i could not get side tracked, and headed to CURVES. I went ahead and payed all of my dues and fees, so it is official. I have committed to exercise. A good think is, it is located just up the street from my work and they are open before I have to be at work. SOOOOO, I can go for 30 mins. in the morning and then off to work, and then while the kids are doing their Karate thing I can work out again that evening. I am seriously committed. I am so proud of my self.
Sorry so long...
Congrats on making the commitment to work out on a regular basis. I know for me that is the catalyst to my weight loss even before surgery that was what it took to lose weight. Re-adjusting your goals is also nothing to worry about, no one loses at the same rate as someone else, so you have to take the time to get to know your new body and how it loses. (at least that is what I have had to do) Good luck in your new effort to be a healthier your!!! I know that you will do great.

Great to hear Chris,
You sound very motivated to get into some new routines to keep the progress moving. You sound like you have the perfect opportunity to invest even further into your health.
I started lifting weights this afternoon with my sons. Since they both play sports, we had their weight set up out in the garage. We cleaned out a small storage room in the basement over Thanksgiving break and I told them that they could set up their weights in that room. It was a little underhanded though (you can tell that I have some guilt...okay it's gone now), since I intended to start lifting weights myself.
Keep up the great work.

Chris--
Good for you! I'm glad to see someone else is doing curves! I LOVE curves...and I go as often as I can. I don't like the hours all that well because I work nights...but I go whenever I can--usually shoot for 3 days a week. You will see results if you go consistently. The nice thing about Curves is that they measure you...so it's easy to see results that way even if you don't see the numbers on the scale you want to see. Congrats on taking this step and making a commitment to exercising. It really is KEY in reaching our goals and staying healthy for LIFE. Way to go! =)

Hi Chris. Congrats on putting you first. I know, as a mom, it's hard to do. I joined a gym that has a Curves-like circuit and I do it each morning. But, I would choose either morning or evening but not both. The Curves I used to go to didn't even suggest coming every day (I thought that kinda goofy). But, doing twice a day? I'd check with my doctor first because my orthopedic surgeon gave me a big NO WAY. lol And, doing it twice a day might become a "chore". You're going to do great. Isn't it funny how moms HAVE to sign those contracts to get it firmly in our heads. My husband was shocked I even brought the contracts for the gym home. LOL And, don't beat yourself up on goals. I got so crazy about my goals I had to finally set every 10 pounds I would do _________. Either buy new nail polish or something small. Every 25 pounds I would get a $10 gift card to either Walmart or Cato or Fashion Bug. That way I always had the $$ to get new jeans when I needed them. lol It's dorky but I don't feel guilty taking the money when my jeans are falling off my butt.
Good luck!!!!!
