Dizzy spells?
I've had this happen twice now and I think it's time to speak to the doctor about it.
Tonight I was visiting a woman from my support group. We were standing in her kitchen talking and out of nowhere I started feeling really dizzy, had blurred vision, the whole deal. Finally I asked where the washroom was and ran in to sit down. By this time, I could hardly hear anything even. I sat down, took some deep breaths and looked in the mirror - I was white as a ghost. I started sweating a bit...but went back out and said that I had to go home. I felt fine once I was in the car.
Last time this happened was last month, and I spoke to the nurse and he said that I was probably hypoglycemic since I hadn't really eaten that day. But I ate today! I ate normally all day and had most of my water intake. So what gives?
I've had a lot of head rush when I get up too fast or something. I had never really experienced that before surgery. When I get up too fast I get blurred vision which lasts a few seconds but then passes.
All of my blood tests came back normal last month, I've just re-started taking my vitamins (I had been slacking in recent weeks) so I really have no idea what this could be.
Anyone else experience something similar?
Some of those sympotms match some of hte signs of dumping. And you can get the syptoms without actually dumping.....or hypoglycemic? I had a run with some low blood sugar last week that was weird. All I felt like fo rluch was cereal and it was a low sugar high protein. but then about 2 hours later I bottomed out became jittery and ended up drinking some juice to feel better.
But sounds like you need to call your dr. you may need to be seen, have your BP checked and such.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks for the backup guys I go to my doctor next week so I will definitely be speaking to her about this.
I got a great response on the RNY board, there's something called orthostatic hypotension - when BP shoots down. It would make sense since my sugars haven't been drastically low when this has happened. It's something very common to post-ops too...good to know!
Hi Chantal,
Definitely see your doctor to rule out anything serious. I have been having similar things happen but usually it's when I stand up, bend over or have been standing for a long time. My doctor says it's because of my low blood pressure now. He had a fancy name for it that I can't remember at work. Doctor said it was because I had been losing the weight so fast and that eventually it should go away. Just one of those things to adjust to like getting cold now. I hope yours is not serious.
