Hair loss

Im 6 months out and down 134 lbs feel great 40lbs to go it slowed way down now but thats ok , but man my hair is thinning out every day my Dr says this could happen from 5- 9 months he told me to try rogan for three months and also said it will grow back, I guess but just not used to it, hope it just stays thin and not bald any one else having this problem. Oh yeah! My hair was disgustingly thick pre-op. It falls out like CRAZY now! I finally relented and am having my stylist hack it short. I HATE short hair but my hair is so heavy it's just falling out like a chemo patient. I talked to my surgeon and he told me to use the Hair, Skin and Nails vitamins at GNC. It's made my skin look lovely but my hair is in horrible shape. Instead of only wrapping a pony tail holder around twice I can now do it four times. This is the only part of the surgery that I HATE!!!! Good luck! * Cyndi *

Donnie, I am right there with you. My hair has been falling out for a couple months now. It is driving me crazy...hair everywhere. I fit in with the shedding cat & dog...lol. I went and had layers put in my hair and it has made it fuller. My surgeon said that he has never had a patient go bald and i don't want to be the first...lol. Kelly

Join the club Donnie, My hair is getting very thin but my surgeon reassures me that it will come back. He told me to take Q10 Enzymes (over the counter) and gelatin capsules and it doesn't seem to be falling out as fast now. Hair falls out after any surgery I've heard. Hugs, Esther

It's completely normal and it is true that the anaesthesia plays a big role in the hairloss. To top it off, our bodies have all been in and out of starvation mode for months. I was told it lasted anywhere from month 3 to 6 to 9. Hair was a huge deal for me pre-op, it was the 1 thing I didn't hate about myself so I swore I'd OD on biotin, but biotin won't stop/prevent hairloss from happening. There's nothing you can take unfortunately to stop/prevent this from happening. You can take stuff to promote hair growth (warning...this makes hair gros everywhere, not just your head ) but it really hasn't been as traumatic as I imagined. I think it's been more annoying than anything. I'll be 6 months out next week and it has slowed down big time in the past week!

Hey Donnie, I've lost a lot of my hair too so I cut it short. And actually it looks a lot cuter! I have a pic on my profile with it short. I had thick hair also pre-op but with it cut short and in a bob you can't really tell except that I carry a lint brush with me everywhere to get the hair off of my shoulders and back...it's annoying. Anyway, hang in there it'll get better. I'd much rather have thinner hair than the 120 lbs I lost in the last 5 months! Take care!! Jamie
