Silly worry
Ok you guys can laugh at me but I"m worried. Tonight my very sweet brother in law is taking me running (on my request) This is something I have dreamed of being able to do without wanting to feel like I'm going to die lol. Here is my silly worry. What if I can't do it lol. What if we get out there and I look like a total tard? I know that it will take me time to learn how to do things right like breathing and stuff but for those of you that are running how did it start out for you. What should I expect? Ok thanks for listening to me whine lol. I hope you all have a wonderful day. BTW small note (wasn't even going to post it) I hit my dr's goal of 175 today..CRAZY!
Hugs,
Rebecca
Not silly- I totally understand.
My best friend wants me to run in this big race in Oct. of 2008- the Army 10 miler. 10 miles?!?!? Is she nuts?? I'm TERRIFIED. I'm always so paranoid about what I will look like running or if I will ever be able to make it even a mile, let alone 10!
I'm supposed to start training for it in January. We'll see.
GOOD LUCK! Pretty soon you'll be speedy gonzalez!!

Hi Rebecca,
I haven't ran for so long that I am tempted to try. I am walking pretty fast now so I think I could do it. Let me know how it goes. I may try too and see if I can.
Have fun and you will do just fine. You are young so you have that going for you. I am 60 years old so it may be difficult for me to really run but what the hell....I'm gonna try.
Hugs,
Esther
First off, congrats on hitting your doctor's goal!!!! Now it's time to work on *your* goal. Now, about the running. First off....Good For You! I've tried to run but years of my poor bad knees holding that extra 90 lbs just didn't work. Walking fast? That's for me. LOL I can do 4.5 miles in less than an hour. Just remember to breathe in and out. I know it sounds stupid, but when we're really working, we kinda forget to breathe. You'll do just fine! Try to run 1/4 of a mile. Shoot for that. If you still feel fine, shoot for the 1/2 mile. Before you know it you'll have a mile down. You'll do just fine!

Well, I'm still 245 lbs and I'm running. Just in small bursts but I *am* running. And you know what - I don't care what it looks like! In fact, if you read my blog, you know my 2XL shorts fell off last Sunday while I was running. I nearly died but thankfully it was from laughter and not falling on my face. Personally, I'd be a lot more worried about how I'd feel if I didn't try than how I'd look if I did. Whatever you might look like running will get better over time. Feeling depressed about not trying sticks with you forever.
Congrats on your goal. Now go out there and achieve the next one!
Hugs,
