If you are reading this, consider yourself family
I just dropped in to OH to check the boards and see how everyone is doing. Had some extra time so I swung by my other bookmarked boards - NC, the Men's board, my surgeon's board. It struck me that this is the board I call home and consider family. We all went through the process together and even though many of us are now infrequent visitors, I still feel a closer bond to the folks here. I love to read up on how everyone is doing and see the new pictures, even when I don't have time to post.
So having come to that realization I wanted to share it with you all. My adopted online family.
Oh, and by the way - I'll be home for Thanksgiving. I'd tell you to set a place at the table but I think the feast has been toned down somewhat. So what do we do now? Do we all become the weird relative at Thanksgiving who entertains the kids with the "pull my finger" joke? Do we hand the master of ceremonies a deck of cards and say "carve me out about this much"? Do we make science project volcanoes on our plates with the mashed potatoes and gravy?
Oh yeah, this first post-op holiday season promises to be *real*interesting.

T.Rob how funny you bring this up! And, btw, I consider you all family too! We cook for an army at Thanksgiving and Christmas some come on down!
Mark loves to cook. I do it when necessary. So, yesterday we were talking about the menus. His folks want us to come down for Thanksgiving. Since his mom is a horrible cook, that might be an option. But, since his dad smokes like a chimney, I don't wanna go. Mark is VERY weirded out about my first "real" holiday and how we will cook. I came home the day before my birthday, but since there wasn't cake, the birthday didn't count for much. I make stuffing patties and I'm gonna have one darn it. Okay, I might make a teeny, tiny one, but I'm having one all the same. Turkey is protein! 'Nuff said there. Okay, I might cry over missing a crescent roll. But, other than that, I'm excited!
My "HUGE" photo is one Mark's dad took of us the Saturday after Thanksgiving when we did the Christmas thing. So, I saved the sweater and I'm taking a "one year later" pic on that same date. I'm sure I won't after looking at my new one.
Oh, yeah. The holidays are gonna be REAL interesting. We can always go to Spencer's and get whoopie cushions. OUR butts won't break them now.
Thanks for the early morning laugh!

Nice to see you around T. Rob my first surgery buddy!!
Congrats to you on all your success- you seem to be doing great! I share the same sentiments about other boards here at OH. I lurk around a bit and read the posts, but May is where my peeps are
It's great to have a place to come home- where everyone seems to know what you're going through and will always support you. It's been VERY helpful for me!
Glad to hear you are doing well and keeping busy!
Enjoy your Turkey this year!!
Kathy
Hi T.Rob,
I have other boards that I go to like the RNY board and the over 50 board and the California board but I ALWAYS end up back at the May 07 board for the same reasons you have. You are all family and we went through it all together and helped each other during each phase of the process so I am more comfortable on the May board then anywhere else.
Hey I am eating Thanksgiving dinner but just a tiny amount every couple of hours. I still love Turkey and all the trimmings.
It's really good to hear from you T.Rob. Thanks for dropping in.
Love and hugs,
Esther
