How much can YOU eat?

I just feel like I am eating too much lately.... I can eat a whole South Beach wrap with sliced deli chicken and 1 oz. shredded cheese .... ALL OF IT. Is that too much? I got too obsessed about charting my calories and had to stop, but I was hovering between 800-1000 a day. I just feel like I can hold to much in my pouch now. Also, I haven't lost any weight this week, but I think that is because of my new weight training schedule and more muscle forming.

Hey Cam, I'm in the same boat. Obsessed with tracking everything! If I can't find nutrional info, I don't eat it. And sometimes, I'll go hours without eating because I can't find anything decent. It's become a really bad habit and I'm trying to chill. My losses have slowed down big time and I'm trying to kickstart it up again and get to goal already. I find I'm at a point where I need to work for my losses now too. Those first few months the weight just seemed to melt off. I'm eating more these days, not necessarily in one sitting, but I feel hungry more often throughout the day...and I find I can eat when I'm bored again, which I couldn't until recently. It's scary but completely normal. We're eating like normal people now, not by our normal standard before surgery. I had a couple of days of eating over 1000 (like, 1002 and 1011) calories this week and I freaked out. I had to stop eating at 7pm and it was so hard. I wasn't hungry or anything, it's just the old habits coming back to bite me in the butt. :lol

well they say (or so does the papers from my dr) that we should be able to eat between 1/4 to 1/2 cup. So a wrap to me all chewed up and eaten slow would probably be in tha 1/2 cup range. I would never be able to eat that.....but then not because it is too much just not able to eat chicken. But in some foods I will eat even more than that......just depends! I buy the new Lunchables Jr the one with turkey, cheese, and ritz bits. It is the toddler size lunchable. Perfect size for my lunch. Hey can you make it Wed. night? PLEASE try and come. I would love to see you and our NUT is the guest speaker this month!! you can always email her and ask if that is too much at once too! Donna

Ok now Im worried! I can eat alot more than 1/2 cup and have been able too for a few months . Lets see, tonight I had 1 small pork chop and about 1/2 cup roasted carrots and potatoes with onions, I didnt finish all of it but I know its more than 1/2 cup of food that i ate plus about 30 minutes later I had a single serving of SF tapioca pudding. Dose this sound like alot of food to you guys? Stacie

it may not be too much....but it would be for me and that is frustrating for me at times. It is why I have ended up with hospital visits.....I have a VERY grumpy pouch LOL! I wish I could eat more.

Seems like a lot of us think like you do. I've been able to eat an entire Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones entree & a lunch sized applesauce for @ least 2 months now. I worry often that it's too much, but it never makes me stuffed or even full feeling for that matter. I have roughly 1000 - 1100 calories a day. That's on average, sometimes it's only between 800 - 1000.

I don't usually count calories- I go more by weight. Right now I can put away anywhere from 6-7 oz. per meal. I usually do about 60% protein, 40% fruit or veggie. I probably should chart my calories...I have no idea what I take in! I have been weight training for a little over 2 months now and in September I stayed at the same weight for almost 20 days. Made me crazy! But I think part of it was my body adjusting to the new routine and building muscle. So if that happens- don't get discouraged- you'll get back on the wagon again!!

I can eat about 1 - 1/2 cup at a sitting (although over 20-30 minutes). My nutritionist feels I'm doing ok and begs me not to be food-phobic or too obsessed about certain issues (veggie carbs for example - not potatoes, but carbs in beans, eggplant, etc.) Remember we have to learn to live normally; that means eating well but correctly and listening to our bodies to tell us when we're too full - that's what the pouch does. That sounded like I was being preachy -I'm not, it is incredibly hard and I struggle with it everyday, but I have bought into to that thinking and work towards that goal. I've drunk the Kool-Aid but at least it's sugar-free!

For me it depends on what the food is. With yogurt, I can eat it almost at will. Not quite like a true liquid but almost. Soups without much solids, same thing. More solid foods I can eat a large portion like a full Lean Cuisine, but it takes me a while. Sometimes I've overdone it and it's real uncomfortable. My NUT says the trick is to stop based on measured serving size and not what "feels" full so I've been trying to do that. Unfortunately, nothing seems to make me dump. I admit to trying some of my guilty pleasure foods. I was hoping for some aversion therapy - get sick, vomit or worse. No such luck. I have to stay away from these on principle alone. -- T.Rob
