Hey everyone
I just recently started coming back to the site now that I'm post op... yes I finally did get the surgery though it took some hair pulling. This are going well aside from a few set backs and an unpleased doctor with my progress.
The surgery was May 22nd and I started out around 374 (a few days before surgery) and I'm now down to 299 (depending on the scale I weigh on is having a good or bad day lol). I personally am pleased with the rate I'm going... granted I could do things better here and there but I'm happy.
I was just wondering what everyone around here is eating/doing/taking now? What foods do you eat (anything particular), what excersizes and activities, and what pills and proteins are you taking?
What? Your dr. is not pleased?? I had surgery the same day and was 354 at surgery. I'm down to 269 as of today. I think 299 is fabulous!
I could be doing better as well. I have a tough time eating so early in the day which means I eat more later (plus I'm in law school and in class until 8 or 9 at night). I'm usually eating soup, ceasar salad, lf wheat thins with melted lf string cheese on them. I don't dump, so I'm regularly eating bread, pasta, etc. (I know I should stop!)
I'm taking 1 multi vitamin, actigal capsules 3 times daily, 2 calcium chews. I usually also have 1 AchievOne per day or I try to choke down those nasty protein bullets.
As for exercise, I usually end up walking 3x a week at the mall of america. About 2 miles in 40 minutes. I take the stairs whenever I find them. Not much more, unless exercising my eyes during reading counts!!!
Congratuations on your decision to have surgery. I don't regret it and it sounds like you are going great! Keep up the good work!
Hi Kelsey,
Welcome back.....Glad to hear you had your surgery. I would do mine over again. I love it. The food I am on is mostly Protein Shakes, Cottage Cheese, Chicken, Tuna, Steak, Cheese, beans and eggs. I eat a soft (cooked well) vegetable for dinner. I had a very small piece of Watermelon and so far everything goes down just fine.
I still have 25 pounds to go so I am staying on mostly protein though and I have SF Popcycles or Fudgecycles.
I also drink at least 64 ounces of water or crystal lite a day.
My weight loss has slowed down but that's normal when you get closer to goal.
Good luck and keep up the good work.
Hugs, Esther
Ya I got a new puppy recently so I'm cleaning house more so that's good excersize.. as well as starting back school and I also went to one of my boyfriend's classes yesterday and had to walk about (at least) a mile and then went up 3 flights of stairs (then had to go down the 3 flights and walk about half a mile after class lol). I also like to window shop and walk around that way (though the doctor says window shopping/walking doesn't count either x_X).
As for the foods I eat, I usually have protein bullets (the 25 or 42).. and I usually have more bready things than I should but I am careful not to over do it. I do a lot of shrimp, hamberger meat (I always strainned my meat even before surgery so that takes our most the fat left when cooked), I have some deli meat but I'm growing tired of it... I eat a lot of cheese products and soups... Tacos I do some too. I mostly am a meat/cheese eater but I HATE cottage cheese a LOT. Chicken didn't agree with me from the start so I'm scared to eat it now... and turkey is a little dry. Lamb and Veal my doctor suggested but it caused dumping... so I'm left with only a few options sadly. I did eat a LOT of catfish when I was still with my mom post surgery but I haven't cooked it much here (I got some frozen in the freezer though). I have a ton of sugar free jello, ice creams, etc... I was never a big sweet eater but I like it once in a while. I miss fruit the most and I usually do fruit with those nasty protien bullets to help with the taste.
Supplements are a big issue with me... cause my doctor wants me to take 2 multi vits., 3 calciums (which I can't take when I take the multi or any other vit.), 800-1000mg Bioten (which is two pills all together at once), an iron supplement with a vit C pill, plus all my presciption, and a B-12 every week. I find myself forgetting some pills still or not really forget, but just don't have enough time in the day to down everything they want me to down. I notice some of you had to take some supplements and listed what you took... and it doesn't seem as much as what my doctor is requiering of me. Is what he's requiering normal?
Kelsey,
We all realized very early that our surgeons are sooooooooooooo different. lol I take 3 Flintstones vitamins, 2 calciums, a B-12 sublingual liquid, Hair, Skin, Nails vitamin (Biotin at GNC) a day. I bought a 7-Day medicine holder at Walmart. Every Sunday I fill it up and take things at the correct times. If I'll be out for a while, I use a small one-day vitamin holder that I found at Walmart too. With a mouthy kid and these pill holders, I've been pretty good about taking my pills. lol
I don't know if I'm lucky or not but the only thing I can't tolerate is chicken from KFC. I can do hamburger meat, chicken, turkey and everything else. I use just a little gravy to eat my turkey and it seems to go down just fine. I never liked cottage cheese. Ick. I got sick a cheese really fast. I guess just keep experimenting.
With your busy, crazy schedule I'm sure exercise time is difficult. I'm happy that I have my morning exercise buddy. By the time she drops her kiddies at the high school, I'm taking my kid to elementary school. We meet at my house and hit the park for 4.5 miles. Our park trail is 1.1 miles. Yesterday we started on #5 not realizing we'd already done 4! LOL
Good luck!
