Krissy, I have no answers for you, but am experiencing similar. I had Lap RNY 5/29/07 and am down a measley 56 lbs. I do well with protein & fluids. However, I too skimp on the exercise and I am betting that's the problem. I go thru spurts where I work out regularly & then I gradually slack off going from 3 days a week to one to none, not intentionally, but some how I get off track. I can't seem to stick to a routine. Anyways, feeling your frustration here. Sending you positive energy from NY

Krissy, Well first of all I eat what I think to be way too many carbs but still lose 4lbs a week. I think that everyone looses differently and you should consult with your nutrition. Keep a detailed food diary for a week and go see your nutritionist and see what they say. But I know that some that need to boost their weight lost go to protien supplements and get closer to the 80 gm mark than the 60 (based on getting 60-80 gms a day). Increasing your activitity may jumpstart things as well. But when in doubt check with your surgeon or nutritionist!!! they may know just the thing to get your scale moving again. Your body may be adjusting like a few have mentioned!

Hi Krissy, I am 60 years old and I am not losing fast but I am staying pretty steady because I am staying basically on just protein. My doctor suggests that I stay on protein until I lose 75% of my weight. I have lost 76.5 pounds and feel wonderful. I don't count calories, I just drink protein shakes and a nice piece of chicken or beef at night. I drink my water and I don't exercise which I need to start doing because I am slowing down now. Try the protein diet and I am sure you will start losing. Hugs, Esther

I was stuck for a while and then went back to pure protein. I do 3-4 shakes a day, have turkey or chicken or beef for dinner, maybe a chicken soup (I make my own) for lunch and my 2 SF fudgsicles for a snack while watching TV at night. I include my liquids in my 64+ oz a day. So, with 3-4 shakes I'm getting 30-40 oz of liquid in. I am good about exercise for the first time in my life. I walk 3.5-4.5 miles a day. I grab some water and my iPod full of fun Motown, Beatles, etc., music and have a blast. Doing that, I lost 6.2 pounds last week. Good luck!!!!! * Cyndi *

Esther---all you eat/drink is protein shakes throughout the whole day and then eat meat at night? Ahhhh...bless you, my friend! I know I couldn't do it. I haven't been able to tolerate protein shakes AT ALL since my surgery. I just try to get my protein through food---whether it's chicken, turkey, lean beef, steak, pork chops, low fat/low sugary yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, eggs, milk, low fat cheese........etc. But NO WAY could I spend 4 months drinking shakes! You're a saint....lol. J/k! Way to go though!! You've lost a ton of weight! I'm down 89 lbs---at 4 months out. But I'm ready to be down 100~! Oh...and as for what you're doing wrong, Krissy..........the only thing I could recommend for you is to up the protein...lower the carbs...and find some exercise that you like to do! I joined curves a little over a month ago and I try to go at least 3 days a week--I really enjoy it....once I get my but there! =) Have a good one and keep working at it! Courtney

Hi Courtney, I am so busy at work that it's easier for me to just drink Protein Shakes and maybe some cheese. When I get home I have meat. I only do this during the weekdays. On the weekend, I stick to mostly protein but I have an egg for breakfast, a veggie burger without the bun for lunch or a salad and steak for dinner. I relax on the weekends but by Monday morning I am ready to go back to my shakes because I feel like I overeat on the weekend. I am so afraid to start eating the wrong things because I am scared to death of gaining my weight back so I don't feel so guilty eating on the weekend if I am good all week. Like Saturday night, I was dying for a Chili Dog, bun and all and ate one and was sick to my stomach and suffered for it. Sometimes I crave veggies so on the weekend, I have squash or broccoli or califlower. My doctor wants me to stay only on protein but I can't completely. But the protein does work! Hugs, Esther

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Sometimes the numbers stop moving, but the inches keep losing. It's our bodies getting used to what's going on, and restributing fat, muscle, water, etc. I'm positive you'll see a drop in numbers soon. You can try cutting your carbs and increasing your protein. You can also kick up your exercise routine if you're not happy with you weight loss. I don't think you're doing badly though. My surgery was on May 31, and I've lost 60 pounds. Sometimes it's a mental thing. Some days I feel like I SHOULD be losing a size a day. I know that's unrealistic and ridiculous, but it's what goes through my head. I try to concentrate on how much better I feel now than I did 4 months ago. I also try to stick to the rules and trust that my body will do what it's supposed to.

well for me personally my weight was a little sluggish for awhile but then i joined butterfly life (circuit training) do that 5x a week for 45 min and the weight is just melting off! i'm not strict with my diet either....i'm a finicky eater and i'm still having a little trouble with meat and texture is a big thing with me, but i have my isopure protein shake a day which is about 65grams of protein and drink tons of water and basically try to stick to 700-900 calories a day...i've lost 73lbs so far and i'm 42 years old so i'm pretty estatic....just wish my hips would catch up with the rest of me...lol
