Head Catching up with the body!
Has anyone run into this one? My head still thinks that I am the same size! My body is smaller now and my clothes do not fit, so I have to buy smaller, but when I go to the store, I go to the big sizes and then work my way down. I just posted this avatar and I can hardly recognize me sometimes. It is strange but good.... just another phase it the journey... Can anyone relate? Beth
Enjoy it Beth! That's one of the things that I love about my surgery. I'm so ditzy I keep going to the size 20s because I forget I'm wearing 16s and 18s. lol Yesterday I was getting dressed for my walk and grabbed one of my 22/24 shirts and my husband's sweats. Force of habit I guess. The shirt was HUGE and the sweats, well, let's just say someone else could have gotten in with me. LOL I ran into another friend during my walk and she said "didn't grab your skinny clothes today?". lol After being heavy/obese/whatever for so long I think it does take a while for our brains to catch up. I almost fainted when I saw 189.0 on the scale AND my high school class ring fit this morning. I haven't worn that in 24 years!!! LOL
Your new avatar is gorgeous! Keep up the great work!

Hi Beth,
I do the same thing. I even ordered my usual 1X top from Roamans and when it arrived, it hung on me so I had to return it. I have been big for so long that I still look for my largest size in my closet to put on. Last weekend, I finally went into my closet and pulled out anything over a size 18 and gave it away. I am wearing a 14-16 top and 18 bottom but I still see myself as fat.
Yesterday at work one of the teachers walked by me and I said hi to her, she said hi but she hesitated. I thought that was weird and then she turned around and said, Esther???? I didn't recognize you, you have lost so much weight. That was a wow moment and made my day but I still think of myself as fat.
I guess it will take us some time to adjust to being normal.
HUGS,
Esther
Beth,
First of all wow the new Avatar is great! Secondly, I have the same problem so I took all the bigger stuff out of my closet and I really need to by new PJ's cause I never did do that.
I have had a few things happen lately that made me realize what I must look like. One was I passed someone I have not seen recently, she said Hi but looked at me and then later came to my desk and said " Donna I did not realize it was you!". Then yesterday someone came in that I do not see very often and she pulled me aside and said "I am not sure what you are doing to loose weight but you look amazing!" She did nto know that I had had surgery (one of the few becuase I thought EVERYONE knew LOL!)
But the biggest realization for me was going to buy new bras and realizing how much I had gone down in size and thien once they were lifted back up then I REALLY started getting compliments this weekend about how much I have lost.
It is definetly taking me some time to get used tooo!!! I like it!!!! but it is an adfustment!!!

Thanks for the kinds words ladies! I am starting to get clothes that fit me now, and I am realizing that is okay, and even fun ... need to watch out for that! LOL But I have gone to the thrift stores and done well since I am out of the plus size dept. Did I really just write that???!!! Hooray for all of us!
Out of the plus sizes!!! Isn't that a great felling. It was wonderful to go to Catherines , buy a few 1 x and say to them. "Farewell this will be my last time shopping for myself in this store" Wow! Amazing! I got a new slightly different (ok not much differnt but hard to be much differnt with short hair! I will have my husband take a new avatar!
