Protein Shakes - Help

Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on different protein shakes to try? I am currently drinking 2 Carnation instant breakfast, with no sugar added, twice a day but I am getting burnt out and wanting a change. I have not been loosing like I would like, I have only lost around 45 pounds, I have not even hit the 50 pound mark yet and that is very upsetting. So I thought I would increase my protein. I get in between 40 and 60 grams of protein a day, most of the time I get in all my water, and I keep my calories below 1000 per day, so I am not sure what is going on. Also, my hair is falling out by the handfuls. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Cynthia Welcome to the board! I have been using Whey Gourmet Chocolate Mint flavor and I really like that one. It has about 23g per scoop and I make it with skim milk which adds another 9g of protein. I have two shakes a day plus whatever I eat. So that will get me pretty close to 60g of protein even if I didn't eat anything. I like this brand because it's low in calories and sugar but still tastes pretty good. They have a lot of different flavors. I get mine online at www.fitnessone.com. Hope that helps! Kathy

Thanks for the information. How long does one container last? With me and my husband using it, we go through shakes pretty fast. Thanks Cynthia

Hi, sorry to hear your hair is coming out!!! I add one scoop of plain protein powder to my S/F carnation Instant Break. Its just from GNC and has 25gm. per scoop.. so I use on packet of C.I.B one scoop of protein Powder and 1 cup of skim milk.. blend good and pour over ice! I also have a berry protein powder called Protein Delite from Scitec Nutrition and is fantastic this has 19.5 gm per serving. When I mix that with strawberry S/F C.I.B and skim milk its really great.. and you have 32gm per serving. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the information, I have not thought about mixing the two shakes to make one. That is a good idea. Maybe the whey shake will taste better mixed with the C.I.B. Hopefully this will help. Thanks Cynthia

Try Whey Gormet Strawberry Banana. It is delicious and tastes like a smoothie. You can buy it online or at GNC but on line it's a lot cheaper. I also buy the cheap $29.95 big bag of Whey Protein Vanilla and it is really good. The Whey Protein Powder helps you to lose faster. Hugs, Esther

Thanks for the info, I am beginning to understand a little about this protein thing. I started using the Whey Protein (Professional Strength from Wal-mart) Monday, it does not tast very good but I think it is working, since then I have lost the 3 pounds I gained last week. I did not know this would be a roller coster ride lol. But thanks again.

well for me personally i use zero carb isopure whey protein isolate....my doctor told me to add 2 1/2 scoops to 12 oz of water (i use milk) and that alone is like 65grams of protein! i don't want to drink anymore of these damn shakes than i have to...lol i'll tell you it will cure whatever ails you...i'm going to stay on it for the rest of my life...also another trick is to have it later at night to curb night eating....hope this helped... lizzie
