alcohol?
Hi Sherry,
I have tried mixed drinks at On the Border, and Chili's, I order one and get about a quarter of it down and I've had enough. I do not like the hard stuff. It doe**** you faster than before, but you loose it within 15 mins. If I drink much more I get really sick, fant, flushed, dizzy, sleepy (you get the picture).
My doctor did not say not to drink, he just said I could use the trial and error method.
I have found that the frozen daquires are a little better than the marguritas. I do not get near as ill on them.
Hope this helps.
It is better to abstain. I have ordered virgin bloody marys a couple of times so I could have something that would not have alcohol or sugar in it.
I did have a light beer for the first time since surgery last week. I drank it VERY slowly and swished it in my mouth before swallowing to cut down the carbonation. The fact that I gave in and had a drink made me feel kind of guilty so I plan to not make it a regular thing. It was the second time that I was tailgating with friends and not drinking and I really wanted that beer! I drank it slow enough that I did not get drunk.
I have missed beer more than any food sice surgery. It is not that I drank it often but it is something that I really enjoy and there is such a social aspect to it.
Please be super careful and do not drive if you do even have a small amount. Transfer addiction is also a very scary thought so be wary of that as well.
I've had two drafts of beer one night out with my wife and brother. I drank slowly because I realize that some people can die from not being careful enough. I also do not want to have transfer addition with alcohol so I will limit to once or twice a month.
The buzz was fast and pretty good. I can see how folks get hooked on it. For me though, the occasional couple of beer glasses will be fine.
