I hope this is in the right place when i am done. Hi to all of you especially in Pa Had my three month post op visit last Friday... 68 pounds gone forever I hope. I am told that this is totally normal wt loss for 3 mos but i have to be honest, I expected more to come off quicker. I can really eat a lot compared to what I thought i could consume, probably a bad thing as usual but i will trudge on and hope to see all of you at the support group meeting in Langhorne soon

Deborah, You are always welcome to come here and spend some time over here at the May 2007 board. What you are talking about is TOTALLY normal. I've read about a lot of people who think that the process is too slow while they are going through it. Then, after they have lost the weight, they can't believe how fast the time really has flown. 68 pounds is such a great boost...so stick to it and you will be at your goal before you know it. I feel the same way at times. It feels like nothing is happening, yet I've lost 100 pounds since January. I still have to say that to myself, because it just seems so impossible. Keep up the great work. John

Welcome Deborah! Since you had your surgery just days before me, you'll always be welcome here. The May 2007 surgery family is the greatest! You're doing great! 68 pounds is fabulous in such a short time. I have to "remind" myself that I've lost 68 lbs. lol I only realize it when I stupidly grab something I used to wear and it falls off me. LOL Keep up the great work and welcome to the family! * Cyndi *

Hi Deborah, welcome to the May '07 board. Settle down and relax, you are among friends! The 68 lbs in 3 months is a little over 5lbs per week - not a bad average for sustained long term weight loss. If you had achieved that rate of weight loss without surgery doctors would be worried about you! I guess the one thing I've learned is that none of this, for me at least, goes like I thought it would. I was prepared for the weight to come off unevenly but I did realize think my body would reshape itself unevenly as well. First I shrank all over. Then the loose skin on top dropped to my belly and I actually went back a UP shirt size that I'd lost. The neck was loose but the belly tight again. Hmmm...that's just not right! Then I got back down a shirt size and back up again, but the scale showed me down a few pounds. Huh? So for now I'm just giving up trying to anticipate how it comes off as long as it comes off. And if I have a slow week, I watch it the next week and try to get in an extra mile or so of roadwork. Sorry I can't be at the support group meeting but I'm definitely not local to PA. But we can be your virtual support group! -- T.Rob

Welcome to the May 2007 board! Congratulations on 68lbs lost! thats great. I think a lot of people have high expectations when it comes to weight loss surgery. When I was about a month out, I was talking to one of my friends and she asked "so how much weight have you lost?" I was excited and told her "20lbs!" She was like "That's it? I thought it came off a lot faster than that" I just told her that I thought 20lbs in a month was great, and that it was normal for the first month.

Hi everyone, I've been in and out of this board, (work 10 hour days in an office behind a pc..and my eyes just get too tired to 'play' online) but finally feel good enough about my weight loss to post. I was feeling like this was going way too slow! I had my surgery on 05/01/07 and as of today have finally hit the 50lb loss mark! I'm so happy! I had a few times in which 2-4 lbs would go off and seem to come back. Then, the times when a week or two go by and no loss at all! Is that normal? I guess it's my fault. I sometimes, get lazy and don't go after more protein mix when I run out. It is just so hard when you work around the clock like this. I also drive 3 hours round trip to my office, making it a total of 13 hours a day! But, I'm hanging in and thinking Ive not done too bad for no real exercise. It still hurts so much when I do exercise, I'm such a wimp! But, honestly, is it ok if I post here when I have time? I would like to get to know all of you and pick up any tips or helpful hints that you share. Take care!

Of course its ok if you post here when you have time! Everyone is really friendly here on the board. I just started posting maybe about a month or so ago on this board. If you read some of the posts you'll see lots of people feel like they are losing too slowly. I feel that way too sometimes. From what I know, it is normal for your weight to fluctuate a little bit. Also it is DEFINITELY normal for a week or two to go by with no weight loss, its a stall. I've been through it a few times already. They pretty much happen to everyone. Try not to let that discourage you. Once you do start excersizing you will see that 1. you will feel better and 2. you will lose more weight. I just recently joined a gym with a friend from work and we take 3 classes a week after work, I love the classes. They are great. Last week was my first week and instead of losing just 2lbs last week (like I have been for the last month or so) I lost 4lbs. So that felt pretty good. Also, I like to look at the Sunday Weigh in posts. I don't post until Monday because that's when I weigh in, but it gives you a good idea where everyone else who had surgery in may is at. That is probably my favorite post every week. So you should def check it out. Welcome to the board and don't be afraid to post!

Ok! GREAT! Thanks! I do need the support and it does help to know others have endured the 'stall' and slow loss. I have been reading some other posts here and seen several discuss issues with 'foaming' does anyone know what that term means? Also, after this 2nd fill on my band, 4 wks pass..I'm still feeling that heavy painful feeling as soon as a bite of food gets down..the kind where it shoots up the back and throat..is it normal for that to continue this far pass the fill procedure? I don't want to stay on liquids..and even when I concentrate an eat solid food by chewing til it's near liquified in my mouth and small it still gives me that same sensation..Or, is this what I'm supposed to want so I don't eat like before? A bit confused, eh? Thanks!!!

Foaming... I believe it is when your mouth gets the white foam like substance when you are nauseated. But don't quote me, I'm not 100% sure. Thats always what I assumed it was. As far as your question regarding the fills, I had RNY so I don't know much about the lap band. You should post that question on the lap band forum, I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses there.
