spent the day int he ER again
yes seems that I need to spend my off days at work too LOL! I woke up to a tremendous left lower abdomen pain that would not let up so about 2 1/2 hours later when I could not take it anymore I went in. truns out I had blood in my urine so we did a Renal CT and I have multiple stones. One was in my bladder so that must have been the cause of the pain. But there is one that seems might be a bit too large to pass. So I have to follow up with a urologist as they may have to break that one up. There are about 4 others but they are small enough to come out eventually.
There is a guy at work that had RNY years ago that had problems with kidney stones afterwards so we shall see what the urologist says I can do. Might expain my 3 UTI's since surgery.
Ok, I need to go back and try to clean up a bit more. I have company coming tomorrow. right now I am pain free but I keep thinking it will be starting back up any time now

Yikes Donna!
I feel your pain...I have had 9 kidney stones in the past and it is NO fun. I had to have mine broken up and that process is really no big deal...I had no pain from it, but a big bruise on my side. It's much better than letting them pass on their own!!
Hope that you're feeling better soon!
Kathy
We have the same surgery date 5/29/07. Do you take calcium carbonate by chance, for some reason that seems to be the culprit in kidney stones. I just found out about this and I am searching around for the citrate kind.
It is sort of confusing when I researched the pros and cons of each because it says the carbonate doesn't absorb in rny patients because we don't have any stomach acid, but my surgeon has me taking two 20 mg of acid controller (pepcid) and I guess that reduces the acids.
Sorry to hear about your problems, I know I had a salivary stone once in my mouth (which is similar to kidney stones, ie calcium deposits) and it was very painful.
Well hope you feel better.
