My surgery was May 4th. I have virtually had no appetite since. All of a sudden it has returned. What's that about?: healed or what? I am down 43 pounds so that is good, but I don't like having to fight the hunger!

Everyone is different. I go through periods of no appitite and then one day I want to eat everything I see. I think a lot of it is that I am bored and have nothing else to do and eating used to be my way to take care of boredom. Start a hobby to take your mind off eating. That helps me. Hugs, Esther

I have days where I need to eat all my meals and snacks, others I have to force minimal calories in me. Just hang in there Marnie, this is where you get to show off those new skills you've learned about in the past 3 months! How many meals/snacks does your surgeon recommend? Make sure you eat the right things at the right time, it can be tricky.

my surgeon says three meals and no snacks. I guess all dr.s are different. Most days I am fine with the three meals. Other days I have some protien as a snack like a protein drink, deli meat, string cheese etc... sometimes some fruit

Marnie, I have done quite a bit of research and not once have I heard a doc mandate an only-3-meal-a-day program. It sounds like your doc is experimenting with that concept. I have heard the 3 meal as an objective to try to attain down the road, but to straight out take that approach seems a bit unrealistic. What I've also found in my research is that so many people who fail at this seem to do so because they either begin to graze all day or start eating high calorie liquids like shakes. Your docs approach would certainly be one way of fighting that grazing syndrome. I'm sure that you are drinking your water, but I have yet to be hungry when I have water in my stomach. I hope this works out and gets better for you. Keep up the great work. John

Interesting: I have thought just the opposite: that eating three meals with three snacks would lead to grazing which is what my nutritionist also told me. What ever works. My meals take 30-40 minutes, plus drinking all the water. I don't know when I would have time for snacking.
