Hi everyone and thank you for responding. A little bit about me. I am 55 yrs old and I had gastric bypass on May 21, 2007. I weighed 206 pounds and had other medical reasons for the surgery. I have had few problems since, except for a stricture that I had to have stretched twice. My weight loss to date is 43# seems a little slow, but I'm happy with the way things are going. Somedays it seems I can eat and the next I can't. I too have problems slowing down enough and bread is a definite no, no for me. I get the foamies right after eating any. I have had no dumping to date and I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not. Do you all weigh on Sundays? I think weighing in with each other is a good thing. Thanks again! ;-)

Hi Sue! I had my RNY 4 days after you. I weighed 265 and this morning I was 212.4. Losing 43 lbs in almost 10 weeks is fabulous! I don't think it's slow at all. I weigh on Fridays since Friday was my surgery day. If there's any change between Friday and the Sunday weigh in I use Sunday's number. Yes, I'm addicted to my scale. Glad you found the group. This group is the best!!! * Cyndi *

Hi Sue, It's nice to meet you and welcome to the best board ever. I am 60 years old and had my RNY on May 7th. I was 279 pounds and weighed this morning and I am down to 224. I have arthritis in my back and since I have lost some weight, I am off all my pain medicine. I can walk further now and I feel wonderful. I can eat just about anything but I am still cautious. There are days that I really don't want to eat but I make myself eat. I don't have a scale at home to weigh on Sunday so I will weigh here at work on Monday morning and we can all post our weight losses. Hugs, Esther

Sue, I am 37 and had my RNY on May 29th. I weigh on tuesdays as my surgery was on a tuesday but weigh an extra time on Sunday to post "My name is Donna and I'm addicted to my scale" I had to go to my surgeons today as a follow up froma dehydration admission two weeks ago. They thought I had a stricture, but had discovered I just have more swelling some days then others and I jsut adjust it accordingly. I find no matter what I eat I get the foamies in the evening so I do most of my eating earlier in the day and then switch to shakes at night. Great to have you posting with us. I did not join here until a few days after my surgery. This is a wonderful group! They accepted me and I have not stop talking since LOL! (had no idea what they were getting into) LOL! Donna

Hi Donna, What are the foamies??? Just curious. I have heard people say they have them and I never have and I just wondered. Thanks, Esther

Esther, I didn't know I had them until they told me what the foamies are. You never, ever want them. It's horrible. I warmed up some KFC chicken breast and, of course, wasn't paying attention and ate some of the skin. Holy crap! For the next 35 minutes or so saliva with chicken and skin just poured out of me. I'd rather dump and puke than do the foamies. It's the worst thing I've ever had. Next time I eat KFC chicken breast I'll be sure to pay attention to what I'm doing! I was watching General Hospital and, well, Maurice Benard (plays Sonny) is just so HOT that, well, it's all his fault. * Cyndi *

It has already been answered but for me foamies are actually a frothing that backs up into my throat, causes excess saliva, nausea, and sometimes I but most of the time I am miserable. What is worse for me is I can feel and HEAR the frothy bubbles popping and getting higher nad higher in my throat. UGH it is awful. Thankfully is happening less and less. I am figuring out how to avoid them which is good. Donna

HI Sue, I had my surgery the same day as you, but I weighed a whole lot more than you did (326lbs). I'm down 51lbs as of today. I also am addicted to my scales its just so good to see the numbers going down or staying the same I still can't beleive the numbers haven't gone up lol. I lurk mostly but I found this board a few weeks ago and everyone is so supportive. Cheryl
