Doctors
Hi-
I know all our doctors are different but I have a post op/follow up question. I just had my 3 month visit and everything went fine but my doctor said he didn't need to see me till my one year anniversary. It seems to me a lot can happen in 9 months. I know I could schedule an appointment if something came up but I'm concerned about regular blood work.
Any thoughts?

When I went to my surgeon for my follow-up, I met the person with who I shared the room with...after the appointment, he had to come back next May, and I had another appointment in 3 months. I thought it was strange, but I guess everyone is different.
If you're concered about bloodwork, I'm sure your GP can send you for them seperately from your surgeon. I showed her what levels my surgeon wanted checked, and she gave me a seperate prescription for some other stuff.
Hmmm...seems unusual to me, but all docs are different as much as all patients. I had lap RNY 5/29/07 with Synergy Bariatrics in Buffalo, NY. I was yold that I'd be seen quarterly for now. So far I've had 1 post op visit, & 1 check up (this month) w/ first set of labs. Next appt. scheduled for mid Oct. & have already been told to expect labs again.
my follow ups were at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and now I do not go until 6 months out, then it will be at one year and then once a year after that. At 6 weeks they did labs but just CBC and electrolytes....he said all my vitamin levels were good prior to surgery so we would do those at 6 months. Now in addition to this I had to go at 1 week due to an issue and then since last week I had that dehydration I go tomorrow to see him as a follow up to that. Other than that he told me I should touch base wih my PCP so he knows I went through with the surgery and how things are going (he sent a letter to him as well)
Each DR is different as is everyones situations I suppose.

Patti, Every doctor is different. I just had my appt too and I have to go back in 4 months. I had blood work done at my appt too. They sent me a letter the other day my vitamine d is too low. They sent me a script for a "powerful" pill I have to take once a month along with my other vitamins, and another script for more blood work in Sept to check the level again. I would be concerned about the blood work too.
I would call and ask just to make sure.
Take care, ~~Betsy
