Just feeling a little sad...and nervous!
My name is Tina, and I had RNY on May 29th 2007. I am 7 and a half weeks out of surgery. I am really nervous because I have not lost any weight in 3 weeks. I understand that there are times when you will have stalls, but I did not think that they would occur this early or for this long. Has anyone else had this problem this early? am I done losing weight? How do I know what to do to get me started losing again? All of your input would be appreciated. Thanks. Hugz Tina
Hey I am May 23rd.... My first month I did great! As for now I have lost 9 pounds since june 25th almost a whole month and down 9 pounds.....Thats sucks I think..... I am trying to be positive but I understand the discouragement. I have actually cried and wondered if this is all imma lose too. I have read though that we do go through stalls and I just try to think of this phase as one of those.I wonder if my body thinks that it is starving because I am taking in between 250-400 calories a day. I have tried to increase my protein and eat a little between meals to get in more calories. I have been doing a little more exercise too. I just wanna letcha know that you are not alone in this thing there is lots of support on this website and lots of great people. I just try not to worry about the weight I think that as long as you use your tool right it doesnt have a choice but to work. We will LOSE OUR WEIGHT GIRL!!!!!!! I try to see the positive side of the slow loss------Our skin will have more time to catch up with our new body size----maybe less flabs for us!!!!! ((((((HUGS))))) Carol.
Tina, I had my surgery the same day you did, and was actually in a little stall until Sat when everything I ate or drank hurt and I lost 9 pounds between sat and today. Of course I am already 4 lbs heavier after the 2 liters of fluids I got today. Just make sure you are eating enough and getting in your protein and your water. Another thing I am going to try is increasing my excercise. I had been swimming but I am actually going to start at the gym tomorrow to see if that helps kick start me. I am sure it is just a phase and you will be losing again.

I had surgery the day before you did, I lost 20 pounds the first two weeks and only 10 in the almost 6 weeks since. I was taking in around 500 calories a day and around 40 grams of protein. In the last 3-4 days I've been trying to up my protein to 60-80 grams, which in turns increases the calories as well. I'm really hoping this will help get me going again! I'm feeling like I've lost the first two month window where you're supposed to drop like a pound a day! I need to stop reading all the posts where everyone else is losing like crazy! Hang in there - I'm in the same boat as you!
i've actually gone UP and stayed UP the past week. i saw my doctor today and he said no worries because it is to be expected. we have to look at the overall and not the short term. easy for him to say, right? i'm still thinking about calling the nutritionist, especially if i don't drop some lbs by the end of next week, which seems like a long time from now!
I'm celebrating 8 weeks today and I've been holding for about 2 weeks. I've finally got myself up to drinking 64 oz a day (yeah me!) and eating 3 meals and 2 small snacks. I really wanted to reach 50 lbs gone by my July 25th anniversary as I'm holding at 47.8 lbs gone but if not, oh well. We're too early in our adventure to be finished losing. Just hang in there! Exercise, keep eating the right foods, get the protein in and drink, drink, drink!

Hi Tina,
Hang in there you are doing great! I actually gained weight in the hospital, over 20lbs. I had a sm bowel obstruction and they put an NG tube in and of course I couldn't have anything but ice chips! So how do you gain 20lbs!! by Iv fluids and TPN. I still have trouble getting all my fluids and protien in but I have noticed that when I do the weight loss does pick up.
God Bless Cheryl
