My adventure!
Well I just got hoem from an ER visit. It was to actually be an admit but I conviced them to keep me in the ER until my test today.
Ok, here it goes. I am not sure what is going on but since Sat EVERYTHING I eat and drink (even water) hurts after a sip or a bite lasting 30 and sometimes over an hour. So my intake has been WAY down. So I mentioned it to my surgeon and he said we will do an upper GI in the am to see what is going on. Then he mentioned "if you feel you might be dehydrated I could admit you for fluids and labs and do the tes tin the am. No, I did nto feel it was necesssary and he did nto seem too concerned that it had to be done then. He asked if I was working tomorrow (meaning today) and I said actually I am coming in at 3 am as they are so short handed. He said well I think maybe I should send you to the ER for fluids now. uhhhhhh no! LOL! I truely started thinking maybe it was goign to be nothing and how stupid I wild feel. Well he apparently called my ER doc and when I got to work she said "oh, Donna you are not suppose to work. Dr Balette called and wants you to be admitted" What! Admitted! So we compromised and I stayed in the ER to wait for hte upper GI when the radiologist got in at 8:30. Turns out I was dehydrated. The upper GI acutally looked good. So my surgeon came in and said that it still could be a stricture and that perhpas I need a scope done. But he was ok with me taking some pain and nausea meds and trying to eat what I can and drik lots of water! And to see him in tow weeks even if I felt better. He thinks when I had that forced vomiting episode when I ate something I shouldn't and that now that I am on soft foods that I have swelling and I should go on liquids a few days and give it a chance. If not then it is a scope for me.
Oh, and to make it worse I have another bladder infection. 3rd one since surgery. So I have ANOTHER antibiotic. Despite all this I feel amazing!!! LOL!
So I got my fluids and came home. Well I am exhausted and going to take advantage of a quite house and get a nap.
Donna
Take my advice and watch your water intake!!
Carey!!! Missed you last night at the support group meeting!!! I was going to email you and see how the meeting with Karen went. I just love her too....guess I need to email her what is going on and get her take on it as well. She has been wanting me to try Beneprotien as it is a tastless powder and she said that way I can add it to my water to be sure and get in my protien. It was on my trays I got in the ER so I will be trying it finally to see if I like it. Right now I am just trying to get as much water in as I can cause TMI but the upper GI is cleaning me out. And I was told if that happens and I do not drink I will have to go back. And I plan to avoid there for the next few days ....I do not like to spend my days off at work...at work as a patient LOL!
