starvation mode?

ok here's a question i haven't seen....i'm a little over 2 mo out and i'm still not doing 3 meals a day....some days i'm lucky if i get 2 in....i just don't have much of an appetite yet...of course it probably doesn't help that i'm constantly drinking water either...lol anyway...i heard that if you don't eat regularly your body will just go into "starvation mode" and you won't lose weight....is this true? what can i do about this? i want to take advantage of this before my hunger comes back but i don't want to stop losing weight either...any comments? thanks

it is true, you can go into starvation mode and then your body stops losing weight. You need to eat at least 4 times a day or 3 if your eating bigger meals too keep your metabolise up and burning that fat. Keep your meals high in protein and keep drinking tha****er and you should be ok. I have heard that if you don't eat at least 500-600 calories then you will stop losing weight but that hasn't been the case with me so far and just yesterday I only got in 400. Although I am having a problem right now (read lower post LOL) I hope someone else can help you more then me but I wanted to tell you the little bit of info that I had! Rebecca

Hi Liz, not sure what your protocol is, but I was told the make sure that I ate every 4-5 hours even if I did not feel hungry, and frankly at 50 days out I still do not feel hungry. I do plan well though and eat every 4-5 hours, and I make sure that if I know I have to eat at 4:30, I stop drinking at 4:00 or a few minutes sooner. This is working well for me, as I am down 53 pounds. I also go to the gym and do 33 minutes on the eliptical 5 days a week. Good luck, and do your best to eat. Gayle

Our bodies are going to be in and out of starvation mode for a while still...that said, it's really important to stick to your surgeon's plan. Mine wants 3 meals and 3 snacks, which I'm totally struggling with. It's hard enough for me to eat 3 times a day...nevermind 6! Gotta keep working on it though.

Um... wow. I eat 6 times a day -- small meals, like a cheese stick, or 1/2 a protein bar, etc. We have to eat to lose. And we have to eat to live. I sure hope you're getting your protein in and taking your supplements!
