Hi all my WLS buddies! I haven't been on much lately and I hate that. I have been out of town most of July and wont be back home until Aug 15th. So here goes my problem. I'm visiting my dad and I was just chugging along with my weight loss no problems. I'm following the rules. I don't drink water, I"m not eating to much sticking to my 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup drinking my water so when I got here I lost 2lbs down to 211 then bam the 2 days later I was back up to 213. I told myself its water but I'm getting really discouraged. How did I gain 2 lbs. I even joined the gym around here so I could get more exercise. The only thing I can think is that they had steak 3 days in a row and I didn't eat a lot because it is not the best thing for me to eat it just sits there but I also needed the protein so I did eat some. Do you think it is just sitting there? ARG I'm so upset and I know I shouldn't be but I can't help it. I don't want this to be it for my weight loss. I was hoping to go home at 199 but at this rate I just can't imagine that being the case. I'm using fitday and everything...someone tell me its the beef and it will pass. I just want to cry! Ok that's all for now. thanks for reading Rebecca

Rebecca, my dear! I haven't heard from you in a while...glad to hear things are OKAY. As for the weight loss...don't get discouraged!!! You're doing great. Put away the scale!!!! I "stalled" for almost 3 weeks...I gained and lost the same 2 lbs over and over again. I finally got frustrated and put the scale away...waited about 10 days and weighed again and I was down 5 lbs. Now things are steady again. It could just be one of those adjustment periods. Have you measured?? You're probably losing inches right now. If you continue to follow all the rules and are watching your intake...you will start losing again when your body is ready. I know it SUCKS--but just keep your eye on the prize sister! Try not to get discouraged by the little stalls...they can drive you bananas. Hang in there--you're gonna be fine! Courtney

I agree with Courtney. Step away from the scale! But, the steak isn't helping. Okay, sure it has some protein, but I asked my PCP about that and he said "steak? are you serious? It lays there!". So, try to eat something not so heavy. Keep up with the fluids and keep with the program. But, it probably is an adjustment period. I was gaining and losing the same 2 lbs too and bam, my shorts fell off me. Your body could be losing the inches. The pounds will catch up very fast. You're doing great!!! * Cyndi *

10 days, no scale? You're my hero! Hang in there Rebecca, steak is one thing that keeps coming up in our support group...and A LOT of people just can't tolerate it until a long time after surgery. Just stay on track and you're body will know what to do eventually. Keep your eye on the prize like Courtney said. Hang in there!!!!

Rebecca, I am sorry you are having such a frustrationg time right now. But the others had great advice.....and hey "step away from the scale" I am sure it is a temporary stall. Donna

First of all...Good to hear from you!! I've been missing all the old Mayers lately. I can totally understand what you are going through. I think we've all been there since starting down this journey. I have learned that the scale will move when it will move. I know I did something good for me and that I did it for the right reasons. It is very hard not to get to discouraged, though- but maybe you should just take a scale hiatus. I can't abandon it all together, but sometimes I do need a break. HANG IN THERE! And come back to the boards when you need a little pep in your step...we're all going through the same things. Hope you're doing better by now Kathy
